Open up the unit and locate the "record" switch. This should be a rather long metal piece located on the PC board. You may see a metal "rod" connected to it. This rod is activated by a lever inside the door. Spray that switch with switch cleaner and work the switch back and forth a few times to clean the contacts. That may resolve the problem. What is likely happening is that there is dirt/corrosion inside the switch that is shorting the record/playback circuits. What is being displayed is feedback. Cleaning the switch often resolves this.

Dan

When the power is feed to the palyer it sends electric current to all the components and there is a sudden shock which is responsible for it.it is not a problem if your player is working fine.my sony deck reacts the same.

Marantz st-48 wont pick up fm signal

If you are inclined to try to service this unit the first step is to download a service manual, this is a sight that has a copy of the manual for download for a price

http://www.marantz.owner-manuals.com/ST48-service-manual-MARANTZ.html

you will require some hand tools, soldering iron and desoldering brade and some solder, multi meter and some type of signal tracing device like and oscilloscope or and audio tracing amplifier.
Look for missing power supply's to your RF front-end circuits and FM discriminator , also track down the analog switching ic to varrifie that this unit is functioning and selecting the FM circuits
if you still kneed help contact me further with your findings and a copy of the service guide

Have a good day and good luck

Will not turn on

Without even a standby light on, it means that there's no power being fed into/out of the power supply. If it's an external power supply (a little, or large, black rectangle attached to the power cord) then it can be easily opened and checked for blown fuses. If it's just a blown fuse, then that can be replaced for less than a dollar in most situations.

Both fuses burnt and both clip and signal led on? seems to have full power behringer ep2500

Suspect an overload in either the power supply section or the devices on the main heat sink. In the power supply you are either looking at a transformer problem or semi-conductors associated with it. However since the clip and signal lights are on, I would go to the amp devices on the heat sink. If they are transistors test them with a Ohm Meter on the 1K setting in circuit even! You will soon notice which ones are gone! The meter will show like you had touch the test probes together!

Cant get both a VCR & DVD player to work on a SANYO TV, model # DS27590 cause there is no input button. The VCR works using a video button. Is it even possible???

Well if you could gain access to the inside if the set you could locate the Video's Composite Input, and there you could simply "Tap In" there, and run a Coax. OUT for the Video?DVD IN, and similarly, find the Audio's Input, and do the same for that. Then you could, simply NOT provide a signal, IE: Turn on & use, the VCR/DVD. And NOT supply a signal from the VCR/DVD. Instead supply the signal via YOUR leads, and it will NOT know the difference, and display what is being fed into it.

I have no more Audio Signal. The power supply was broken and I changed it. The keyboard behaves normal now; the display is working but if I connect it to my eqipment there is no sound (ok, there is really,...

i would suggest uninstalling and reinstalling the software for this device. Usually, install drivers first, hardware after wards. Settings might have been lost when the power supply quit on you. Good luck.

Microphone does not pick up any sound

Your mike requires a 48 volt phantom power supply which your preamp should be supplying. The most commonly overlooked problem is the cable. It must be wired for a balanced connection for phantom power to work correctly. 1=ground/shield, 2=hot(ve) and 3=cold(ve). None of these connections should be bridged to another and need to be kept separate to maintain a balanced connection. You will need to eliminate the preamp and mike cable as sources of the problem in order to determine if the mike is working correctly. You need to test this combination with a volt /ohm meter. If you don't know how to do this you should take it to the dealer you bought it from for testing or advice.

Watching an the power goes off

Not a power supply issue. The TV doesn't power off, I have ran into this issue on several occasions. In all instances it seems to be the DVI controller for the display panel itself seems to lose sync with the signal that is being fed to it. If you have this TV hooked to a PC you'll notice that even when it goes "black" that it still maintains it's HDMI connection to the PC. Even when you unplug and reconnect the HDMI cable the TV will renegotiate a display setting with the PC (impossible if the power is dead).

Cobra 29 no sound but it picks up

Hello Gentlemen,

It sounds like a problem with the audio output stage of the CB, to test this:

1) get a schematic of the CB
2) unplug and un-install the CB
3) put it onto a workbench, remove the cover, and use a 12volt DC power supply to power it
4) on the schematic find the point where the IF signal goes into the Quadrature Detector and test its level against the schematics level using an if probe and a voltmeter.
5) find the point where the Quadrature detector turns the IF into audio and then using an audio test amplifier see if audio is present at the output of the Quadrature detector.
6) If audio is present then trace the signal through the audio stages, until you find the stage where it drops out
7) if audio is not present, then the problem is the Quadrature detector.
8) In either case troubleshoot and find the bad components and replace them.
9) I would suspect bad capacitors, or a malfunctioning audio output IC.

I hope this helps
