Hmm..that's interesting..try removing the port from control panel/device manager, and then scan for hardware changes..

How do ifix usb drive not working &audio op not comming

you didn't say what kind of computer it is, so a generic answer is all I can give. There are 2 places where devices such as USB drives and audio can be disabled. First is control panel. Look for your device, such as the USB drive. If it is disabled, try enabling it. Or there may be a yellow or red mark on it which means there is no driver. If you have no driver, you need to get the exact model and all for your device, along with which operating system you are using, and download a driver. I cannot give advice on where to get drivers, except the manufacturer is usually the best bet. Or microsoft update might find it. If this is not the problem, when your computer boots, there should be a message like "Hit delete to run bios" or "Hit F2 to run Bios" or "hit 10 to run setup". click whichever key it tells you. After a minute or so, you will be in bios setup. BE SURE NOT TO CHANGE ANYTHING WITHOUT WRITING DOWN WHAT IT WAS AND WHAT YOU CHANGED IT TO!!! If you change the wrong thing it can cause all kinds of problems. Depending on which motherboard and which version of Bios you have, there will be a place where you can change things - probably in advanced. Like I said, without knowing what you have, it is hard to tell you exactly what to do. There will be a place to enable or disable USB devices; yours is probably set to disable. Same thing for Audio. I would make only ONE CHANGE at a time. Reboot, then see if it is working. If not, go back and change back to what it was and try another setting, one at a time.

Tried to update win 7 to win 8 but when loaded receive message OXOOOOOO5D nowcan,t start computer

windows 8 is far better than windows 7

To install Windows 8 on your PC, the processor (CPU) must support the following features: Physical Address Extension (PAE), NX, and SSE2. Most CPUs have support for these features, so if you receive this error, it is likely because the NX feature is not enabled on your system. To resolve this error, follow manufacturer guidelines to enable NX ("No eXecute bit"), or the equivalent XD ("eXecute Disabled"), feature within the BIOS settings. This feature is typically found in the Advanced or Security tabs within the BIOS settings, and can be referred to by a variety of names, including but not limited to: • No Execute Memory Protect • Execute Disabled Memory Protection • EDB (Execute Disabled Bit) • EVP (Enhanced Virus Protection) If the BIOS setting for the NX (XD, EDB, or EVP) support option is not available on your system, you may need to contact the manufacturer to update the BIOS. Note that some very old processors may not contain these features and will be incompatible with Windows 8 Release Candidate. A whitepaper has been published with further details about the PAE/NX/SSE2 requirement for Windows 8, error cases and scenarios that customers encounter when machines fail to meet the requirement, and what to do to install Windows 8 on their PC's. You can download the whitepaper at http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/windows/hardware/hh975398.aspx

IC VERIFY CREDIR CARD SOFTWARE WONT DIAL OUT AFTER SWAPING HD TO A NE PC. EXTERNAL MODEM WORKS FINE, SETTINGS ON ICVERIFY POINTS TO MODEM COM PORT. SOFTWARE WILL NOT DIAL OUT. aNY HELP?

Ok,

There's really only a few reasons this would fail beyond the COM settings. First, if the computer you're using has actual serial ports on the board and you're using a USB modem or if there are more than one serial ports it's possible you have either got the wrong COM assigned or that you have more than one trying to use COM 1. This will not cause conflicts with newer USB based devices but can when using actual UART chips on the motherboard or a mix of USB and UARTs.

Go into device manager and check for additional ports. Disable all COM ports except the actual modem and try again. If it still fails, check for DMA and IRQ conflicts. Do this by going into Start>All Programs>Accessories>System Tools>System Information.

Once open navigate to System Summary>Hardware Resources>Conflicts and Sharing.

Check for any conflicts with COM 1 and it's related DMA settings or anything sharing an IRQ with the modem. If you find any devices conflicting or sharing IRQ or DMA with the modem either disable the device or go into device manager, double click the offending device, click onto the resources page and find an alternate configuration that uses different IRQ/DMA that won't conflict. This will require a reboot for most devices.

Sorry my answer would be faster but I'm shaking almost a decade worth of dust and cobwebs out of my brain that have built up since the last time I even used a modem for ICVerify.

Hope this helps, lemme know how you make out,

chris

Mouse not working..pls help

i guess it is due to conflicting Com ports resources. you can try the following to resolve the problem. i am assuming you have a serial mouse connected to com port

1. remove any devices marked under device manager with yellow exclamation mark or question mark. reboot the system

2. when the system has restarted let the windows install any new devices it has found. after that.... go to device manager right click on com port to which mouse is connected

a) click on port settings tab and click restore defaults.
b) see if windows is reporting any resource conflicts under resources tab.

do you have any other device that is attached to any other com port ? if yes it may be causing resource conflict problems. to solve that click set configuration manually and deselect automatic settings and select different configuration in "settings based on" . this should resolve resource conflicts if any.

I hope this helps solve your problem

Usb not found aspire t160

Hi,

i,d check the bios setup. to ensure that USB devices are enabled.
Or that there are no conflicting devices:- My Computer/Control Panel/System/Device Manager.
Also some motherboards, have jumpers to set the USB ports on/off.
Try using a different port if you have 1 available, or purchase an individual PCI-Card with USB Ports On.

System does not see new video card

Confirm the card works in another system to eliminate it as a suspect. Try a beefier power supply in the machine (sometimes these 300 to 350 watt supplies just cant hang when an addon card is installed). Check the BIOS settings and make sure that the PCI Express slot resources are active for the card. If the card uses a power connector, make sure it is connected. Keep us posted.

Win XO Pro displays MSG: "IRQL_NOT LESS OR EQUAL" on blue screen. Sounds like a hardware compatibility problem with SMCWPCI-G2 wireless card adapater. Any hints on how to solve this?

This almost always seems to be an IRQ conflict that the BIOS can't resolve with its plug n pray skills. When this conflict is passed to XP at boot-up time, XP panics and blasts you with this error message.

Before you start pulling cards, go about pulling cards, go into the BIOS and change the IRQ of the on-board compnents, if you can, and also disable any on-board components that are not needed. (such as the parallel port, on-board ethernet connection, etc.)

Hardware conflict

You might have your internal modem set to the same com port as your com ports that are on your motherboard. You can try to go into BIOS and disable all com ports OR you can try to configure your internal modem in windows to use com 3 or com 4. Remember, that if your computer does have com ports in the back, then is is probably set to the same address as your internal modem so something needs to be moved.

Disabling COMM ports

Hello,

If you're pretty sure its your comm ports, boot up into your bios setup screen. (Tap Del while booting) Then go to the onboard devices page or any page that lists your com ports and change the property value to disabled.
