I had an epson radio once AM it was a great vacuum tube set.
I had an Epson Dot matrix it also was great.
I figure the name sold when I bought a color epson printer.
It was good until I left it sit.
It cloged up from not being used often enough.
\I bought new ink dispensers since the heads are part of the machine and not set as a cartridge head...
I ripd it all down and tried cleaning and clearing it. I finally bought a new printer and it sits and it is reliable even if I do not use it that often HP...a little over 7 yrs old

How do I change ink cartridges for Epson DX4450

1. Make sure the printer is on and open the printer cover

2. Make sure the printer is paused and the output tray at the front of the printer is lowered

3. Hold down the cleaning button for three seconds until the print head moves slightly to the cartridge replacement position, and the power light flashes when the print head is in position. Do not move the print head by hand, it will be damaged

4. Lift up the clamp that holds the cartridge you want to replace as far as it will go.
5. The cartridge will rise partly out of the cartridge holder. For black ink replacement, lift up only the smaller clamp on the left.
6. Lift the cartridge out of the printer and dispose of it properly.
7. Remove the cartridge from its protecting bag. Remove only the yellow tape seal from the cartridge. The yellow tape seal must be removed. Leaving the tape on when you install the cartridge will permanently damage it. Do not remove the tape seal from the bottom of the cartridge.Otherwise ink will leak.
8. Lower the ink cartridge into the cartridge holder with the label on the cartridge face up and the arrow on the cartridge pointing to the rear of the printer.
9. Press the ink cartridge clamp down until it locks in place. Do not press the cartridge itself.
10. Press the cleaning button. The printer moves the print head and begins charging the ink delivery system. This process may take a few minutes to complete. The power light continues to flash while the printer performs the ink charging operation.
11. Never turn off the printer while this light is flashing. Doing so can result in incomplete charging of ink. Even if you do not press the cleaning button, the printer moves the print head and begins the ink charging process about 60 seconds after you replace the ink cartridge.
12. When the ink charging procedure is finished, close the printer cover.

Do all ink cartridges need to be full to print? I

In Purchasing Epson's CX 5400, CX4600, & CX7400 and more, I found out that Epson does not like Generic Printer Cartridges. I also Purchased a Brother MFC-240C All-In-One InkJet Printer. That also does not like Generic Print Cartridges. Color that should be Yellow, will turn out Green, Blue Brown, etc.

These printers have a CHIP that will detect if it is Generic or Genuine. When they see it’s Generic Cartridges, it will print lines thru the words, stripes across the picture and also do a mix match with the colors. It also will not let you print anything, if only one of the cartridges is empty.

I wanted to print only Black, and would not let me, because I did not have any ink in one of my cyan cartridges. Go figure.

That's what these Companies do., so they can keep selling the ink cartridges. Some Printers, are able to use Generic, and some are refillable. Some you can refill them up yourself and I heard, quite MESSY.

So I learned, thru trial and error, that you must use the ORIGINAL Genuine Cartridges for these PRINTERS. Some people say some models work fine compatible, but not mine.......

I had to replace the printer, but Epson, Lexmark & Brothers are always on sale. My Brother & Epson cost me $50.00 with Rebate. .

IF YOU ARE USING GENERIC CARTRIDGES, MAYBE IT WOULD BE BETTER IF YOU DISABLE THE INK MONITOR.

This is the only advice I can give you.

The next step would be to disassemble the Epson, and clean the Pads/Heads. Click on link below.:

I located a page on http://www.fixyourownprinter.com forum, which had plenty of details about similar issues.

Replaced Epson printer cartridges with Tesco ones - they've worked before but error msg is saying Cannot recognize ink cartridges and I don't know how to override this. Epson RX520 printer with Tesco E272...

Took cartridges back to Tesco Customer Service desk - they didn't quibble even though I didn't have a receipt (Tesco is written all over the packaging and cartridges!) they offered me money back or a replacement. The lady behind the counter advised that her son tells her that there are just bad batches of cartridges and swapping them often sorts the problem. I took another pack and put them in the printer and Hey Presto - printer works just fine and dandy.

I took all the inks out - and holding a cloth over the hole at the bottom shook them and then wiped the contacts with paper towels.

Replaced the contacts and left overnight for ink to charge

My Epson cx7450 ran out of ink a while ago. I

Did you remove the cartridges when it went out of ink? If so, the printer head is clogged. Anyway, If you didn't remove the cartridges and the "a while ago" means "Long time ago", is more likely the printer head is clogged. You may need to run the "cleaning printer head" feature from the printer or replace the printer head.

Inkjet printers should be used frequently to avoid this issue.

Finding how to replace cartridge Epson DX4450

Removal and replacement is pretty straightforward but I know how some instructions and pictures are not clear. So this is what you need to do. Power off the printer and lift the lid up so that you can see the ink cartridges. You can put your fingers on them and move the ink cartridge carrier to the center so that you can reach them easily. If you will look at your new ink cartridge you can see how they have to set in the carriage. There is a small tab that you click up to release and bring the old ink cartridge up enough where you just pick up out of there. By looking at your old one you will see how the new one just falls into place and clicks in. Some printers do not have a small tab that you click up and for those you just grab the ink cartridge from both sides with your fingers and pull up. It will come right out and the new one will click into place as well. Be sure to take off any stickers that protect the ink cartridge before you place them in.

Ink problems

Hi,

1. First make sure you have installed the catridge correctly by taking out and placing it again.

2. Then,
The following Epson ink cartridges should be used in your device:

Black: T0431 (high capacity cartridge)
or T0441 (standard capacity cartridge)

And make sure you use the genuine original EPSON catridge.

3. If you are using a genuine one, then TRY TURNING OFF YOUR PRINTER AND SWITCH IT ON AGAIN.

If you do not suceed then,

Please contact Epson to resolve this problem with a technical support representative.

Put some detail in your posts please. And why post it under a generic problem for all printers. It's fairly obvious your problem relates to an Epson DX4450
