When your getting ready to play back a recording on your Tascam DR-05 and you get a squeal. You may have a line out to some kind of speaker from the ear phone line out place on the side of the unit. If you don't have your "input" turned "off" the sound is feed back from your built in microphones. So every time after you recorded you have to go into the menu and turn off your input so this is how you do it. Go into your menu, scroll down to "other" scroll over to the right and scroll down to monitor mix, scroll to the right and there will be your "input" highlighted. Scroll to the right and turn "off your input". What you are doing is turning off your built in microphones. Remember when you want to record again, you have to remember to turn your input/microphones back "on". You will get really fast at this in time. I know the directions in the manual are veg I am here looking for other stuff that I haven't figured out but thought I would help out as I went along. email me if you want other help I will be back from time to time to help out. their isn't much on the next only reviews which don't help on real world situation. See ya hope this helps. Turn your mic/ input back on when you what to record again turn it off to play back.
you can connect wire from computer head phone jack to Tascam recording jack on back of unit.assign track for song to go to,punch play on computer and record on unit. will record song in stereo.
Maybe you could just clean the heads. If anything visible comes off they're TOO dirty. Or or look at it yourself with a strong light source and see the wear by evaluating reflections from the head surface.
You can use headphones or monitor speakers that are hooked to an amp. If you don't have one ,consider downloading a manual:http://www.tascam.com/i-3582-232-128-1-4A000F90.pdf Pay attention to the caution on page 9 and the hookup diagrams are on pages 12 and 13. Hope this helps.
Many different things could sause a problem, belts, mode switch, capacitors in capstan or head motor drive circuit. Hard to say what exactly is wrong with the machine without looking at it.
The 112 unit uses a cam operated transport- it may need a new 6.5" belt and some head base lubrication as well as the feedback pot spray cleaned. I do them all the time.
I never had that problems. I have been using it over five years. Does it play commercially made CDs (the ones you bought at the store)? Panel shows track numbers and sound volume? Can you hear it by using a head set (phone volume control turned up? If so, now recording part, do you have input select correct (analog or digital)? Input cable(s) into right connector(s)? When you press "record" button, does it put into "pause" mode? Can you watch the incoming sound levels when it is on "pause" mode? Can you start the recording with remote's fader button or play/pause button on the machine? Good luck.
