Only 1 half of the element works with both valves on. We bought this bbq off of craigslist. it had never been used. Rock were still in the bag and the grilles have never been used.

By "element" you mean the burner? each valve will control one side of the burner but if unused for so long it is Very likely the orifices and valve (small cavity behind orifice when installed) are plugged. Although not common in general this is fairly common in barbecues unused for long. small insects can crawl inside the orifice hole to live in the valve and sometimes packing grease gets hard in the tiny orifice opening.

SOURCE: cadac Carri Chef bbq replacement gas valve.

Remove grey plastic cover by removing two screws inside cooking area, then pop handle off valve, undo nuts to release valve body, carefully remove two screws in body, watch out for spring!
Take the small hexagon jet out of other end, find a small straight item that will pass through hole where jet was, tap the internal part out of the main body , clean everything up, probably carbon on it! Apply a tiny bit of oil to the plug you tapped out, avoid the tiny hole in plug! Now reverse the strip down, making sure that the valve goes back together the right way and still turns through right sequence! Normal cause of it sticking is not pushing it in whilst turning off!

Is there a support for lower oven element a peace of metal/ or it seats on the inside of the oven bottom,on own curve?

It depends on the oven model.

A cheap DIY solution is old BBQ rack, either as is or cut as needed and rest element on it. BBQ racks are built with material which can handle very high temperatures made by oven elements.

New BBQ chaged from propane to NG

Hello. The conversion of any gas appliance usually requires changing orifices, regulator and burner. Then once those changes are made you can adjust the gas flow. The difference in the orifices is this.
Natural gas orifices are larger than liquid propane orifices simply because the gas pressure for the natural gas is lower.

I would double check to be sure that you have installed the correct orifice. Also, you can adjust the amount of gas by turning the orifice in or out, using that socket.

No gas getting to bbq

I switched to the new style 20# tank with the new turn-on knob.  I couldn't get enough gas pressure to the BBQ burners for all three burners to light or to keep a strong flame on even one burner.  The new style tanks have a safety valve on the inside of the tank that shuts the gas off if you turn the knob on too fast because the safety valve thinks there is leak.  Shut everything off and then try turning the knob on real slow, especially at first, before turning it all the way on.  If that doesn't work (it didn't for me), then replace the large plastic connection valve knob (female end) that attaches the regulator to the tank.  Mine was for the old style tank and was black (low pressure).  I went to a propane company and had them replace it with a green knob (higher pressure).  Took it home and WALA!  Everything works fine now.  But it was very frustrating trying to figure why I couldn't get any gas to the burners after buying a brand new tank.  I hope this helps solve your problems.
