Our LCD lamp went out on our PT-50LC14 Panasonic, how do we replace it?
It is relatively easy if you are certain that the bulb is burnt out and needs replacement!! I would prefer you read the instruction manual for important information and especially if you have never attempted to do something like this before!! Here is the link to the manual: http://www.fixya.com/support/p232593-panasonic_pt_50lc14_television/manual-7812
If you are 100% certain that you can handle this and you know for a fact that the bulb is bad, the first thing you need to do is turn the power off to the TV. Then wait one minute until the bulb cooling fan stops. You can usually hear it stop! After this has happened unplug the power chord from the outlet.
On the front side of the TV is a long grey panel that is 3 13/16" wide X 34 1/16 inches long. This panel pulls toward you and pops off, with no screws holding it in place.
Behind that grey panel, to the left of center, you will see a white sticker that says " CAUTION:HOT SURFACE". To the upper left of that sticker you will see a black phillips screw that needs to be removed along with the black panel that it holds in place ( black panel approximately 6 9/16" long x 5" high). Once the black panel is removed you will see the front face of another black box with a center grab handle. This is the bulb & housing.....it is an all in one piece and it pulls out directly towards you, once you remove the silver screw on the right side of the bulb housing. Remove this screw first!! You will know you have the correct screw because it has an arrow pointing at it. This screw holds the bulb in place.
Please be careful to pull the bulb out without touching any part of the bulb or bulb housing, as it may still be hot!! Place the new bulb in the same exact way the old bulb was removed and reinstall the silver screw that holds the bulb in it's place. Re-attach the smaller black outer cover, 6 9/16" x 5", and replace the one black screw that holds it in place. Then reinstall the long outer silver panel that covers all of this.
Once installed, please refer to the owners manual for how to reset the hours meter, or you will not have an idea of your replacement bulb life. A quick tip on resetting the hours meter.....the instruction manual tells you to push certain buttons to reset the meter. What they fail to mention is that they are referring to pushing those buttons on the TV set, not on the remote, as is implied, or left to interpretation. When resetting the hours meter, certain commands require pressing buttons on the remote and certain commands require pushing the buttons on the TV set itself....read carefully!!
I hope this helps someone install their bulb and reset the hours meter without to much trouble!!
