I have a Hus Viking 400 The Programmable card I use is a 512. I didn't know there was a difference in programmable cards. I ordered several over the enternet but they won't work with my 4 D organizer. Is there any way I can make these cards work?

Are the other memory cards you ordered 512 mb, or higher? If they're 1gb or 2gb cards, chances are the machine can't read them. I would get my money back, since the whole batch could be defective. You can check them by putting one in a digital camera. If it works there, then the problem is in your machine, or some possible incompatibility. Rule of general thumb is to replace cards with the same brand...you usually can't go wrong that way.
There are free memory card programs on the net you download to try to fix bad memory cards, just google "free memory card fixes" and you will see many.
Good luck, thanks for using FixYa, and hope this helps.

1. I have read the instruction set and it seem that the model takes all size memory because they are USB memory , however the information on the stick is what I presume that you are after.
2. the manal instruction states that the designs are on the memory stick but the information need to be seen first on a PC with the memory sticks correct drive letter.
3. Here is the instruction set from the manual:

To transfer designs from within 3D Embroidery Software:
1. With the design you would like to save open in the 3D software, click on the Save As
icon .
2. Choose My Computer from the list on the left.
3. Choose the drive letter that represents your Husqvarna Viking USB Memory Stick.
4. Choose a folder if you wish.
5. Name the design.
6. Click Save.
The Design File is now saved on your Husqvarna Viking USB Memory Stick and
ready for use in your Husqvarna Viking Designer SE.
To transfer designs from your Computer directly to the Husqvarna
Viking USB Memory Stick:
1. In Explorer, locate the files you wish to transfer.
2. Right click on the design or folder if you wish to transfer the entire folder.
3. Choose Send To.
4. Select Your Husqvarna Viking USB Memory Stick.
5. A file transfer window “Copying…” may occur when it is finished your design(s) are
transferred and ready to use.
Please remember to use the Safely Remove Hardware function before unplugging your Husqvarna
Viking USB Memory Stick from the computer. More information on this function can be found in
your Windows XP help files
I hope this helps . Have a great day !

Your reader writer will not work unless you have the Husqvarna Viking software to drive it. The first level of the software is called 4D Embroidery. Their web site does a great job at showing the features and benefits. It sells for $400 and if you buy it from your local dealer, they usually offer classes. It is not difficult software to figure out.

I have a reader-writer box for a Viking Rose machine that is missing the dongle. Is there any place I could get just the dongle?

The dongle is only available with the software when you buy it. The dongle alone doesn't run the reader/writer box. The dongle is the code key for the software that allows you to send designs to the reader/writer. So purchasing new software (which also gets you the new dongle) is what you'll need to do if you want to send designs to the programmable card. Another issue you may have is that the older reader /writer box that uses a parallel port hook up, doesn't work with the new software. So if you have an old reader /writer, you'll also need a new usb reader / writer box. The new reader / writer also comes with a new programmable card.

#1 Viking Embroidery #13 Set.

Use any card that has the On/Off in the bottom right og the card (1). You have to know what number is you design so you can push that number after selecting on/off. Make sure you programmed emb card is in the machine. You can use another card if you do not have the generic numbered card with on/off and the hoop positioning E on the right side of the numbers 1 to 35 designs.

Husqvarna 1+ programmable card

To the second poster with the malfunctioning "card" - do you mean the insert panel/card (overlay) with "E" on it? If so then there is no programmable feature to it. The overlay has notches in the left edge that presses a pattern of leaf switches on the left behind the case and it uses internal designs in memory. If on the other hand you mean that little memory card that you can use with the reader/writer and goes with the "0" (zero) card/overlay then you can get them from a Husq-Viking dealer, or keep an eye on used ones on ebay.

Most dealers sell the "programmable" as a "0" (zero) card set where you get the zero cassette/panel/overlay and the little programmable embroidery card as a set. Most reader-writer sets, either the older parallel port type or the newer 3D/4D USB one will come with one many times. You need to check the dealers and see what they have to offer. The programmable embroidery card is still rather pricey. I'm looking into whether there is some generic type memory card that might work too but have yet to find one and may not since the HV programmable card is likely proprietary since it goes back to the early 90's.

Error when trying to write to programmable card

It could be that the card can no longer be written. Sometimes they may just stop working.
If you have a dealer in the area, request that they try to write to your card and you will know if the problem is in your hardware or settings if they are able to.
