I have a brand new

I have a brand new Disto D3 and am getting error message 284. This error message is not in Leica's manual. There is also a battery symbol displayed on the screen indicating a full charge in the battery. I confirmed polarity of the battery installation and even replaced the batteries, but the message will not clear. The device will not allow me to access any other functions on the machine. The unit was working fine until I tried to do a area measurement. Can you help me?
