It is inappropriate because your advice was no idvice. It should have been obvious that I had checked the manual and performed the recommended tests before I actually paid money for advice. After all what kind of expert advice is "read the manual and follow the manual debug steps, I don't need top pay money for this.

I asked the question on Sunday because the Bosch helpline isn't open on Sunday and I was hoping for a quick soliution and got none. Oh, btw, Monday morning bright and early Bosch advised me that I had a very rare case of DOA compressor, they sent out a technician.
I notice I didn't get a response to my request for a refund based on the 12 hour response guarantee. Maybe I should open my own website, easy way to make a lot of money, pretend to be an expert and tell everyone to follow their manual!
Wonder how many other dissatisfied rating are "loclked"

Control panel erase from the windows

hi The thermostat control is usually mounted inside the refrigerator. Its visible control knob is turned to regulate the refrigerator/freezer temperature. The workability of this control can be tested in various ways, depending on the problem. To test the thermostat control:

Step 1:
If the compressor runs all the time, turn the control knob to the OFF position. If the compressor still runs, unplug the unit, then pull off the control knob and remove the screws holding the thermostat in place. Pull out the thermostat and remove either the red or the blue wire from its terminal. Plug in the unit. If the compressor doesn't run, the thermostat is faulty. Replace it with a new thermostat.

Step 2:
If the compressor runs after the wire is removed from its terminal, there is probably a short circuit somewhere in the unit's wiring. In this case, don't try to fix the problem yourself; call a professional service person.

Step 3:
If the refrigerator or freezer runs but the box doesn't cool, unplug the unit and remove the thermostat with a screwdriver. Disconnect both wires from the thermostat. Tape the ends of the wires together with electrical tape, and plug in the appliance. If the refrigerator starts and runs normally, the thermostat is faulty. Replace it with a new one of the same type. Connect the new thermostat the same way the old one was connected.

Step 4:
If the freezer compartment is normal but the refrigerator box doesn't cool, set the dials that control both compartments to mid-range. Remove these knobs (they're usually friction-fit). Then unscrew the temperature control housing; you'll see an air duct near the control. Replace the knob on the freezer thermostat and turn the control to the OFF position. Open the refrigerator door and look closely at the air duct. If this duct doesn't open wider in about ten minutes, the control is faulty. Replace the control with a new one of the same type. Connect the new control the same way the old one was connected.

We have the Bosch kgn34x60 fridge freezer and the fridge wont stay cold. The dial is turned to 5. Any ideas on what might be the problem????? had it less than ayear and the freezer is fine

I have this model and am having the same problem. Bosch don't want to know as it is out of warranty.
This means that a perfectly good freezer has to be thrown away because the fridge won't work properly.
Don't buy Bosch.

FREEZER WORKING - FRIDGE NOT WORKING

Ok, got it sussed! [well here's what I did anyway]...

Quite simply, I turned off the fridge-freezer at the mains overnight and in the morning, broke and chucked out the ice chunks that had lined up in the bottom of the freezer section and then turned it back on. I returned that night to see that it was working fine again! Hallelujah, I got my fridge back!!

So it seems that all it needed was a good long defrost, so far so good! I hope this solves your problem.

Bosch Classixx fridge / freezer

Hi - experienced this myself and spent ages trying to get to the bottom of it - only found one post but it worked and was absolutely clear on the cause nb: i'm not an "expert" !

My understanding of how the Bosch f/f works is that the freezer compartment generates the cold air for the fridge which is regulared at the fridge end . At the back of my fridge there are two "vents" which feed up this cold air up from the freezer into the fridge.

Problem happened to me because I left the freezer door slightly ajar which generated a massive amount of frost (sucking in the moist air from the house I guess then freezing it) and subsequent ice froze up the cooling ducts between the freezer and the fridge. Therefore, no matter how much I turned up the fridge thermo it never got cool. Only solution was to dump my frozen at a mates house and defrost the the FREEZER for a good 24 hrs +.

Worked tho' - fridge was completely back to normal.

PS: I understand this issue may also happen if you put too much unfrozen food into the freezer at one go and in working overtime to get it frozen causing a massive frost up again.
