Are you completely locked out of your computer ?
A locked computer can result in dead end frustration, potentially costing hundreds of dollars in repair bills.
Unlock your computer without the aid of a password reset disk by accessing the default Administrator account from Safe Mode and unlocking your computer via console commands.
This can generally be done in minutes.

Restart the computer.
Press and hold down the "F8" key as the computer is booting.
Release "F8" when a list of options appears and select "Safe Mode With Networking" from the list.

Click on the "Administrator" account.
Press the Start button on the lower left-hand side of the screen.
Type "control userpasswords2" in the text field that appears and press "Enter."
Uncheck "Users must enter a username and password" and restart the computer.
It will be unlocked.

If this does not resolve the situation, press the Start button and chose Control Panel from the menu that appears.
Click the arrow in the Control Panel to bring down a drop-down box and choose "All Control Panel Items."
Navigate to "User Accounts" and then "Manage Another Account."
Choose your account and select the option to edit it.
Select "Remove the password."
Repeat for every account accessible through the Control Panel.

I have a emachine w3619, i let my son use it and he changed the login password and cant remember it. and i cant figure out how to get into my computor. how do i go about getting into my computor

Which Password? Bios Password? Hard Drive Password? Windows Welcome Screen User Logon Password?

Which Operating System? Windows XP? Windows Vista? Windows 7?

OK, if you are running Windows 7, Microsoft tightened security on it so you've got to have a password reset disk which 99% of the people who own laptops with windows 7 fail to do. It should be one of the first things you do when you buy the laptop. Otherwise, you're faced with reinstalling the Operating System or possibly doing a System Recovery.

If you're on Windows XP or Vista try this:

Turn off the computer, then hit the power button to turn it back on and immediately start hitting the F8 key repeatedly until you see the Safe Mode option. Select SAFE MODE and let the computer boot up. When it gets to the User Login screen it will show the Administrator userid and the userid for which you forgot the password. Sign in as the Administrator (hopefully you didn't put a password on it and forgot it too). Once the desktop appears it will look different, the screen will be darker and the icons bigger, but this is normal for safe mode.

Click Start/Control Panel/User Accounts
When the User Accounts screen opens, click on the userid for which you forgot the password. Select the option to REMOVE PASSWORD.

Reboot your machine.

Hi,
It seems to be BIOS password, if you don't remember or don't have the BIOS password you have to reset the password by opening your CPU cover and removing the CMOS coin battery, this will reset the BIOS password but dont forget to return back the battery and start using your PC.
