Not necessarily. You must check first if the plasma panel is powered - if Vs  ~200v and Va  ~70v  are present then you must check the voltages at the Y and Z sustain boards (they are the ones that usually fail, not the mainboard) .If they are there and correct (around 115v for an average image) then the image processor has failed and the mainboard must be replaced.

No, all voltages must be measured with all the parts connected. If you take one then the power it was supposed to use goes back in the source, messing the readings.

so if I measuring the Vs, I put the red side of the tester in the Vs hole, and where do I touch the black side to.

The black one is the ground - you can put it wherever you can find a ground.

I am getting 115v reading on all pins

In that case most likely the Y board is fried and must be replaced. Try to find out why it was fried, or it may fry even the new board.

Hi, After 4 years long, my Plasma decided to have some blinking black the top half of the screen after watching tv for 10 min. Can you please point me to the right direction on what to replace? Many...

The first thing I would do if it were mine (and I'm a tech) and had those symptoms would be to clean the ribbon cables coming from the upper Y drive board. That's the skinny one on the left side to the left of the Y main. Be careful, if you damage the ribbon then you throw the set out. If that doesn't cure it then you can look at the Y Main. There are some small silver tin-can type capacitors towards the top that quite often go bad. If you have a cap checker that will make it a whole lot easier and faster. I can't see replacing the whole board for a few bad parts.

I have a samsung Hp s5053 and My TV is making this clicking sound and turning on and off. How can I Fix this ?

Any time you have this issues the power supply needs to be replace. Look for the number on the board it should be the biggest board on the TV. Google it and it very simple to replace.

Thank you

It appears that the Main bd is bad. Try using Component cables instead of the HDMI cables and see if there is a change. If there is a change to normal picture then try another HDMI cable. If the problem returns then replace the Main bd. There three Main bds for this basic model number. You will need the version# found on the right side of the set to order the correct bd.

50" Samsung Plasma with black screen

I had the same problem and had the TV serviced and found that the y board was blown $350 total. The repair guy explained that the board has a hot transister underneath that slowly leaked onto the board, but says that they can not get Samsung to admit to the problem. Works fine now but only have a 90 day warrenty on the parts.

Try to adjust the Vscan or/and Vs down about 5-10V on the Power Supply board. If you got extended warranty, just let the warranty depot shop help you to do it.

For the "humming" noise, may need to replace the Power Supply board to fix it.
