Question about Xerox Phaser 8200 Laser Printer

3 Answers

Paper jambs as it goes from the paper tray into the slot where the paper is fed in through the manual feeder. The printer will print on paper manually fed in through the manual feeder but cannot set up software to use this slot. Printer says that I have inserted the wrong size paper and insists on using the paper tray.

Whatever program you are printing from has the paper type set up as the size you want it correct.

What you can do is try and reset the printer by leaving it unplugged for an hour and see if that helps. If it doesn't we can try a few other things, but try this first and then get back to me on how it goes.

thanks

By something broke, do you mean you found a broken piece or hear something rattling when you shake it?

Have you tried cleaning off the rollers that grab the paper?

Canon pixma mp495 rear tray rollers only pulls paper in on one side then it jams

When the paper does not feed straight, dirty or sticky rollers can cause it to jamb or crinkle, also failure to remove all traces of paper from a previous paper jamb will cause further paper jambs.
Check for tiny pieces of at the edges of the rollers, and remove these pieces of paper. The rollers may be dirty or sticky and causes the paper to not feed straight.
Try cleaning the rollers with methylated spirits.

A small screw dropped into the top feeder of my Canon Pixma printer. I have tried holding the printer upside down and shaking it, nothing comes out. When I try printing from the top feeder, the paper jambs...

Hi there ok Generally when this happens, something has fallen into the printer, or a piece of paper has been jammed in there.

First step, remove the ink cartridge, and turn the printer upside down and gently shake it, see if anything comes out.

If nothing goes, or you can't hear anything rattling around, get a piece of cardstock paper (60lb or heavier) and gently push this through the printer, to see if it will help push out what might be stuck in there

Please come back and just gave a vote, it will gave me some satisfaction to know am helping some one so I will keep on helping.

Paper feed not straight, causing jambing

You need to look inside the slot where the paper is loaded with a flashlight and small mirror. Usually the only reason that happens is when something has fallen in where the paper goes. I usually find pins, paper clips, candy wrappers, or jewelry dropped inside. A paper clip straightened out can help remove the objects.

I am trying to align my ink carts. I have printed

This happens on several All-in-One devices, including Brothers. Your device is not sensing the document in the ADF ( Automatic Document Feeder ). These, like the others, are mechanical vs. an optical sensor. Look in where the paper is fed into the ADF, and make sure that the mechanical arm is showing. It would be a small plastic piece, usually near the middle, to accomodate smaller scans and would be 90 degrees or perpendicular to the scan tray and "hanging" off of the top, sometimes the bottom, but typically the top. If you see something that closely resembles the description stop. Home Use All-in-One ADFs are notorious for looking like they have a big mouth, but actually can only handle about 10 sheets at a time, max. If your paper count is only the one, calibration page, pull the page back and reinsert it, pushing slighly harder until the paper starts to bow. If you have a LCD menu screen, watch to see if it acknowledges the paper being in there. On the Brothers, the text says ADF ready, when the paper is sensed from properly being insterted, deep enough. On all printers, including all-in-ones, the Mfgr accounts for paper jambs in the print path by making doors that you can pull out jambed or crumpled papers. Open each of those doors, verify that there is no jambed page somewhere, then reclose the door, snapping it closed firmly. Rerun your calibration page. This should resolve your issue ? TIP: If you are having trouble getting the paper to pickup and transfer through the entire paper path, get a clean cloth and some standard isopropyl alcohol. Wipe down all of the rubber wheels, 360 deg on each one. Slightly time consuming, but only need to do it annually or when the issues arises 'paper slippage'. This process restores the "grip" back into the rollers without destroying the rubber. If you see a lot of 'paper dust', buy a can of "compressed air" to blow out the dust. Typical problem since paper is made of compressed fibers. Good luck. I would appreciate your rating of my answers.
