If the motor is burnt out, it can't be repaired. Replacement is an option, but the cost of a new motor plus labor may be more than the cleaner is worth.

Tom, the motor has probably burnt out, if you dismantle machine you could test motor directly to prove faulty or just replace machine.

take it to an appliance repair center as it may be a burnt out motor
get quotes first before repairs as a new unit could be cheaper

Dyson stopped working

There are three things that "stop" (no noise anymore) a DC07 working. I will list them in order of the most common to least common faults.

1) The motor is burnt out. Caused by over filling and not cleaning the filter regularly. You must replace the post motor filter when getting the motor replaced
2) The power cord has failed. This can usually be seen by visually inspecting the cord for damage.
3) The on/off switch has failed.

All of these faults should be repaired by a licensed sparky for safety reasons.

My vaccum is smoking help!

The motor has burnt out Cheaper to get a new unit than to have it repaired. Always make sure if you use a bag that you keep the bag clean as it requires free air flow to cool the motor.

Smell of burning now no suction

Hi There, if you are talking about an upright vacuum you may have simply broken the belt that drives the roller. If you are talking about a standard barrel vacuum it would sound like you have burnt out the motor. If the motor is burnt out and it was not an expensive machine in the first place just replace it. If it was a more expensive vacuum take it in to a repairer for a quote.

Hello, I was vaccuming around the house i accidently **** some water out of my dog water bowl. Now it dont want turn on?

Water and electricity don't mix, so you probably burnt out the motor. There's a possibility that a thorough cleaning with a motor cleaning spray that leaves no residue will bring it back to life, but I think you will need to replace it.

I think my vacuum is even older. It's a tank type. My carpet attachment won't spin where the brush rotates.

The first thing to do is make sure the power nozzle motor is working. If it is, then check the belt by trying to spin the brush. If it spins freely, the belt is broken and needs replaced.
If the power nozzle motor is NOT running, there could be several things.
1. Make sure brush is clear and cleaned of all loose strings, cords, and other foreign matter.
2. Press reset button. Try vacuum again.

If it still doesn't run, ensure all wire connections are tight, and have no indication of arcing, i.e., blackened or burnt connections. Any such connections need replaced.
There could be a broken wire in the hose. Usually the hose will need to be replaced, but occassionally it can be repaired.
Internal wiring worn or broken. Needs repaired/replaced.
