Question about LG RC199H DVD Recorder/VCR

1 Answer

I get scrolling ghosting in the background. My tv signal is set to go through the recorder first. It only just started doing this. Any ideas? We have already reset it with no results.

Check scart fixings (in fully) and replace with shielded cables. Cause: signal leakage from unshielded inner cables.
Just replaced my scart cables and this happened. Went back to old cables and it went. Cables returned to shop.

Scrolling ghost bar on Samsung LCD TV

Majority of the time when you get a soft type of scrolling or distortion it is a poorly made cable or connector causing bad signal. I would replace that RCA cord altogether and go to the top end with and HDMI cable. If this is not an option buy a newer upgraded version of the RCA cable. The ones that come with everything are only really good for in a pinch

I need instructions to record from vhs video player to dvd recorder

Connect the vcr to the dvd recorder via scart. Set TV to your usual dvd channel and power on dvd. Power on vcr and scroll through input channels (AV etc) on dvd recorder until you find the signal from vcr. Prepare the recorder ready to record, then play the vcr and start the dvd to record.

Hi,

First,If there are double images or "ghost" images on the TV's picture, check the cable connections and make sure they are secure.Because the loose cable connection would be a chance for the ghost picture

But if the cable is perfect and if you still get ghost picture then here is the solution:

The LCD Panel is defective. The problem is the T-con board that is used to decode the signal from the main board to the LCD Panel. The only way to fix it is to replace the whole LCD Panel or T-con board if possible. The T-con will cost about 1/10 of the price as the LCD panel but except for a few new models, the T-con is not available. The LCD Panel is very expensive (usually from $600-700 for a 32" Sony).

The reason is that Sony makes the T-cons for each individual TV with different specs to match that of the LCD panel because of the low threshold for error between the LCD Panel and the T-con.

Its best to avil warranty and change the panel...

Please leave me comment, if you need furher assitance

Dvd recorder set up

there are some tv (sony) that you can get video and audio out from the tv and then is simple task to record what is in the tv. But maybe you don't have that option.

the second idea is this:
Think in the signal that comes from the box as a river and you need to divide this river (signal) before gets to the tv, so feeding the signal to the tv and the set you use to record then you have the option to record and watch the tv as regular; only task to do now is to monitor the recording in the input where you assigned for the dvd recorder. i hope is clear the idea to you!

Red ghosting on images that are not closeup

1. Power off -- let bulb cool.
2. Display - 5 - VOL+ - Power (in quick sequence) to display service menu.
3. Go into the user menu and set auto revision back to auto.
4. Put an image on the screen that shows the problem. I always found the edges of a 4:3 aspect ratio signal displayed the ghosting very well on my set.
5. Use 2 to scroll through the categories to find D GM TG
6. Use 1 to scroll through items in D GM TG to find V POS D
7. Write down current value.
9. Use 3 and 6 to change the value to minimize the ghosting. You should only need to move it up or down a value or two.
10. Press Mute - Enter to save the changes.
11. Power off and let the bulb cool.

Yes, it called ghost image. You can try to go in the service menu, and scroll to ghost image. Turn tv off, wait till red light stops blinking, and then on the remote press the input button. at the same time press the power button on the tv. this should put you in the service mode.
