If it just turns without making the bridge between the two eyepieces move up and down then they are broken. You will need to send them to Bushnell.

SOURCE: The adjustment knob was very hard to turn. Any way to lubricate?

I would be inclined to use a penatrative aerosol lubricant (like WD-40) in very sparse quantities. Squirt a little in using the WD40 smart straw applicator to direct the lube accurately and work the adjuster back and forth in a small section. Repeat this until you have freed up the adjustment from one end of its scope to the other. The focal adjustment is typically housed separately to the lenses and careful application of the lube should not affect them - avoid overusing the lube and have a mopup cloth under the spray zone to keep overspray/drips to an absolute minimum.

The diopter setting eyepiece has come out of the body of my Bushnell 10X42 ''Waterproof'' binoculars, model 13-2410. I see keyways inside, but cannot screw it back in more than about 1/4 turn, which is...

The entire diopter setting eyepiece was off.I separated the eye cup from the rest of the diopter setting eyepiece, and aligned the channel guides on the lens piece to slide it into place. Then holding it in place, taking care not to gum up the lens, I experimented with how to screw in the retainer ring so that its white dot registered correctly. Finally reattach the eye cup and focus. It's like new!

There is some sand or dirt under the focus knob that makes a noise when the knob is turned. How do you take the knob off to clean . Thanks

There is a central aluminium decal on the focus knob. CAREFULLY prise it off using the tip of a sharp knife trying not to distort it (it's hard to panel beat a small bit aluminium!). Once off you should see a central screw or two screws that hold the focus wheel in place. Remove the screw(s) and the focus wheel noting the orientation of the focus wheel to the body. Use a dot of Liquid Paper to show registration. You can then clean around the focuser and the inside of the focus wheel before reassembly.

Bausch and Lomb rubber eye cups

Bausch & Lomb was purchased by Bushnell in the 70's. Your elites are Japanese made and considered quite a good binocular. Bushnell continued to make the same binoculars bearing the Elite name but replaced B&L with Bushnell. The current elites are different shaped. You could contact Bushnell or you could go to a store in your area that may stock the older Bushnell Elites and try and see if the eyecups fit.

They do stay on for a while after switch, that is OK. Dim and out of focus may indicate that the output voltage is low. If replacing the battery does not fix it, then the problem may be in the power supply circuit.
