Question about Acer Aspire 5315 Notebook

1 Answer

Well, My laptop will not boot up. I think it has a virus because right when it comes on it says "Startup repair is checking for proplems", and after it searches a pop-up comes up and says windows cannot repair this computer automatically and asks if i want to send message to windows to find a solution to the problem. I have done that many times since it has been broken. It has been broken for a few months.

The issue might be due to the corrupted operating system files.

Windows 7 laptop won't boot to OS , only has a black screen with a blinking cursor

Insert your system recovery disc to repair your startup.

1. Change your Bios to boot from disc:
When your computer powers on, hit F2 (on some computers, F8 on others). Use your arrow keys and move to the right to your BOOT option. Hit the down arrow until you select your CD/DVD drive. Look at the bottom of your screen, and it should say to change the option hit F7 or F8. Use the specified keys, and move your CD/DVD drive above your hard-drive. Save your settings.

2. Boot from your disc. Insert your system recovery disc and restart your computer. Let the recovery disc load. If the option comes up to hit any button to boot from CD/DVD, then hit any button. Once it loads, it should come to a spot where it wants your language. Select your language, then select the option "Startup Repair". Click on it, and let it repair the startup. If it automatically starts correcting your startup then great! If not, then select your operating system from the list and click the Repair Startup option. Restart your computer, and hopefully it will boot from your hard-drive correctly.

Hope this works.

P.S. If it continues to boot from your recovery disc, then using the same method in step 1, go to your bios, and move your CD/DVD drive below your hard-drive.

Hi My dell vostra 1500 laptop is not getting started. It is showing a black screen and cursor flashing in.Pleases suggest what could i do to get my computer back in shape.

this is most likely a startup(bcd boot)error. the only way to fix this is to run setup from your recovery partition (shift f10) when starting up the computer or use a windows 7 install disk and select repair my computer when it comes up instead of installing. let the program go through the first repair attempt to repair startup and then restart the computer without the disc in the drive. should repair the problem, but if not you can alway reinstall windows. heres a tip...stop downloading illegal movies/software because this happens when you download torrents and viruses.

My profile on my computer runs very slow or not at all my husbands profile runs fine on my comp, its a new gateway with windows 7

You need to check what services and programs startup with your PC, and remove them as necessary, you really do not need things starting up when Windows boots. Use the msconfig command to do it. Go START>>RUN>>msconfig (enter) ansd a window will come up, go to startup and have a look there, delete anything you don't want to start, do the same for the Services tab, Hide all Microsoft services, and have a look at the rest, shut down, whatever ones you do not want to start. Check Virus, go to housecall.trendmicro.com/
Let it run a full free virus scan and removal, this way you can be sure it's not a virus,
Go to My Computer, right click, on HDD icon, and select Properties, when it comes up, Do a Disk Cleanup. After that, do a "Defragment". This should speed up your system no end.

I have a compaq armada that has a virus that will not allow me to log on to Windows. I have a repair cd, but do not know what key to push during startup (F1 or DEL) to change the boot order.

In order to enter the bios, on a cold boot, at some point the cursor will bounce to upper right. At that point I hit F10, or Alt+F10. I'm not sure which one is the correct.

When i turn on my laptop,it just freeze in windows

This might be due to windows getting corrupt or due to virus on the computer. It can also be due to some software causing startup trouble.

Restart the computer and right after tap F8 key continuously.
You will see advanced boot menu
Use up/down key on keyboard and select Last Known Good Configuration and hit enter
It should boot you up.

If that does not work, do the above procedure and instead of Last known select safe mode from the list.
Run antivirus scan and check if it removes virus.

If that does not help, reinstall windows.

Freeze after boot up

hmm... given that it boots up fine into safe mode, i think there's a strong possibility that the problem is virus or spyware related.

i would see if you can run a virus scan with some good programs, check your startup processes to see if you find anything out of the ordinary, etc.

if you do find something or also think its a virus, reloading windows will always take care of that, and definitely speed up your system.

hope this helps
