Hello Shot

This is a weird one. Don't know exactly where to start but here is some ideas. Power filter to the power input, may be run power w/gnd from the battery, try a different antenna, run a ground wire to the radio and or antenna. other than this ya got me but maybe one of these ideas will work. Good luck and thanks for a good question and let us know what fixes it.

I bought a new antanea 3 ft fiberglass with mirror mount when hooked to radio needle swings all the way to the red and i dont transmit or receive but when hooked back to old antenae works fine old antenae...

Mirror mounts need alot of Ground to tune correctly. Most mirrors don't ground to the door good enough, not to mention the reflection of the radio signal off the cab. Be sure it's grounded good and the nylon insulator is place.

Radio recieving and putting very poor.

Just because its a magnet mount doesn't mean its a 100%. I've sold 4 little wheels made by wilson in the past 2 months and they had a ground problem. If you grab the base of the antenna does it give you more squesh? If so it has a ground problem. Have you had that antenna matched to you truck if not that could be your problem. You need to have your SWR checked on your antenna.

I hooked up my cb radio. my friend could hear me i couldnt hear h

Is the tone high pitch? if so he was too close to you (feedback).

If the tone was low then could be a voltage problem, or a microphone fault.

more like to be an incorrectly wired microphone if the radio is new?

Radio and cd player only play out of left dash speaker. It seems to me that equalizer works ok,(only one speaker to check it with) but when I fade over to right side channel, nothing. The antenae is hooked...

I had this same problem. After reading other ideas and some trial and error, I finally got it. Most Caravans have an Infinity system (the speaker grill will say Infinity on it) ,which uses an amplifier to run the door and rear speakers. I had to ground the clip wire that was originally attatched to the strap ground on the factory installed radio. Then I also had to hook the wire on the new radio for power antenae (blue and white on my unit) to a blue wire on my new harness. This wire came from the last wire of 7 wire harness that had the other 6 wires for speakers. The original wire appeared to be green/red on my vehicle. After I connected both, the speakers cameon and sound great again.

Power antena after markit how to make it work with radio

on the radio there is a cable that is for Power Antena you might have to set a cable out to the area you are instslling the antena if this car already had a power antena you only need to hook up the leds from the old if not then like i said you need to get positive cable out to the antena and ground it to chassis

I have hooked up my converter box but its not receiving any signal. do i need to buy a new antana? Or what could be the problem?

make sure u have the antena hooked to box and box hooked to tv, make sure antena wire is actually hooked to an antena if wire is coming out of the wall, otherwise u more than likely need a new antena, or box it's self is bad but if it turns on and u see somtin on the screen like make sure antena is hooked up then the box is probaly good

Tried to used CB without antena

If you were trying to transmit without the ant. then your assumption about the demise of your radio is correct. If you hooked it up using an inline fuse ,then just change the fuse. If you hooked up without a fuse, then no, you can not fix it. Please rate this answer.

Background noise

I'm not an expert but I am a daily operator. First check your ground connection, just because the radio turns on doesn't mean the ground is good enough. If this unit is mobile there are several things you can do to reduce the noise. First you need to find out if the noise is coming in thruogh the antena or the power supply; turn on your radio and vehicle, unhook the antena. If the noise goes away or is reduced you know that it is RF noise. this is interference from some outside source, powerlines, TV, just about any thing that uses electricity or electronics can cause noise. relocating the antena may help. Check you antena connections. Check your SWR. This is only a few of the things you can check.
