Question about GE Nautilus 24" Built-in Dishwasher

1 Answer

After replacing my garbage disposal, my dishwashr stopped working. I did forget to remove the stop plug from the disposal unit. But even after doing this the unit still does not work. It does turn on but no water drains out. In addition when using the sink it appears that some water may be getting into the dishwasher.

The drain hose appears to be in the same position as it was before. Where is the solonoid inside the dishwasher. And does it pay to replace it versus getting a new dishwasher?

I checked the drain hose, and it appears to be in the same location as before. The dishwasher does not start to fill it with water when I turn it on. Where is the dishwasher drain solonoid?

The drain line from the dishwasher MUST be secured HIGHER then the drain port in the disposal.
If this is not the issue, the dishwasher drain solenoid is not functioning correctly.

My garbage disposal will not start from a dead stop.

The motor start winding has gone bad, or capacitor burned out.
Generally disposals are replaced when motor goes bad.
Mostly because the disposal is sealed unit and cannot be easily disassembled.
If you have local motor-repair guy, who has disposal bearing parts, and can get the disposal apart, then repair might be possible... but the bearing seal would be hard to replace.

Garbage disposal won't stop running

Check switch. replace switch. If switch checks out, then replace disposal to avoid risk of overheating and in-wall short.

My Kitchen Aid superba does not drain. It just happened after I replaced my garbage disposal. I folllowed all of the instructions. How do I check for blockages, etc?

easy job, DISCONNECT POWER..... YOU FORGOT TO KNOCK OUT THE DRAIN PLUG ON THE DISPOSAL.... remove the drain hose off of disposal and push a screwdriver into the opening..does it go thru or does it stop...if it stops..take a hammer and knock the end of screwdriver forcing out the plug...remember, to remove plastic plug from inside of disposal....Do not turn power back on until finished

The water is still in the bottow of the dishwater and the cycle is in the heating mode. The dial is making noise as if it wants to move forward, but it can't. It stop well before the heating cycle...

Have you recently installed a garbage disposal? If so, you probably didn't knock out the plug where the drain hose from the dishwasher attaches to. Just disconnect the hose from the garbage disposal, use a punch or screwdriver and tap it out with a hammer. (Don't forget to remove the plug from the grinder area) Then reconnect the hose.

Stopped up garbage disposal. no grinding action when turned on

Hello there:
you will need to make sure that all of the hoses from the unit are free of debris first ok
than if you need to remove the blade assembly and clean out the area around the unit and than reassemble the blades and see what happnes ok if not you will need to remove the entire unit and see what is making the unit malfunction. ok
best regards michael
