Question about Sub-Zero 650 / O Bottom Freezer Refrigerator
I replaced the light switch yesterday & today the refrigerator is not cold. This is an older model 550 that we had completely overhauled 3-4 years ago, and have had no problems since then. I'm wondering if there is a reset button or something I missed after putting in the new light switch. The freezer is working fine. Any suggestions? thanks Craig

Sounds like your freezer drain is blocked up. You will require a freezer drain heater kit for this repair. It was a common problem for this unit and can be a easy fix. However it does take some patience to fish the heater down into the drain pan.

I had the same problem with my 550...several times the tech came out and used a steam machine to blow out the drain...which didn't solve the problem. Finally, they ordered a refrigerator drain heater from sub-zero (part#4201290) and this finally fixed the problem. Hope this helps...I'm not a tech, just a customer. K

Paul, we have the same problem with a built-in Kitchenaid and the price of replacing the fridge is out of sight for us. Where did you get the equipment to check the freon and replace it?

Clarkk I have seen this many times. Your drain is clogged. If you pull the drawers out and pull the top cover you will see the evap. On the cover you will find a nozzle that goes to the drain. Use some compressed air and blow out the drain. In some cases there will be some silicone that will need replaced. You can get a food grade silcone sealant at a hardware store. Hope this helps.
