I tried using the old switch, no different. I mowed today and noticed that the seat safety switch is not working even though it is hooked up. Any ideas where i can get a wiring diagram that is detailed . I went off a diagram that listed models 927037, 043, 045, 047, 048 and so on but not very detailed. I am thinking I may have all the swithes hooked up wrong not sure. Gave up for today, will be back to figuring it out tomorrow.I did get the starter to start it, but had to go get a new battery and am charging it now.

How can that be, because the plug only goes on the ignition one way.

I bought a rm9030e with no engine. wasnt sure of the engine that was on it originally. I am trying to put the wiring and other components that was on the 9030e on to my 830. I was given a 10 hp tecumseh with a starter when i picked up the 9030. I am trying to put the starter on the 830. If you have a diagram I would appreciate looking it over to see if it will help

  • Anonymous Aug 24, 2010

and according to the manual I just looked at the 9030 had the briggs engine my 830 has the tecumseh

  • Anonymous Aug 30, 2010

I solved the problem. I put the old harness back on and took the two wires that went to a plug on the end of the harness and connected them to the solenoid and now everything works. Mower starts with the key and most important it shuts off with the key. Thanks to all those that tried to help.

There is a wire on the switch which has to go to a ground somewhere on the mower. There may be a screw on the key switch where you can connect a ground wire from any part of the metal frame to the switch.

You have connected the wrong wires in the wrong way to the key switch - now the ignition to the engine is constantly connected the the power; leave it like that and it will drain your battery pretty quickly.
Take them out and start all over again: first identify the power wire; then the ignition to the engine; then identify the correct plugs in the key switch. Only when you are absolutely sure which is which you should reconnect them.

Make sure the harness ground is grounded to the engine,if it is,the configuration will be different in the key switch, and you will have to use your old switch. But switching the switches can cause a melt down so be care full when plugging the other switch in,and trying it out.

If you are talking about the key switch I had mentioned, can be the problem,on these ,the key switch can look exactly the same, but they are not,and the terminals are configures different, most of the time you can look on the back of the switch and see the letters that mark the terminals and make sure they are the same.

On our Troy built we can't start it unless we use jumper cables to touch battery terminal and then the starter

check switch for corrosion make sure all post male and the female plug are clean. Check power to switch with 12 volt test light if you have power to switch check your soilinoid there is one wire that activates your selenoid to send power to starer. .i would guess bad selenoid.

No voltage from selenoid to starter

Try a direct line from your battery to the solenoid.
-no sparks as you attach = either solenoid is open circuit or the engine earth strap is faulty
-buzz but no movement = solenoid siezed
-solenoid operates = problem in wiring/switch to solenoid.

Turned key and got nothing. Got home by unplugging wire Harness and jumping selenoid. Do I need a new key switch or selenoid?

What wire harness did you unplug? If you left the key on and the jump the selenoid switch and it started then your key switch should be ok.. I'd change the starter switch..which is what they call them on that year.. I've a 95' Ford Aerostar that was doing the same thing few years back.

I need the wiring diagram for the solenoid/1999 16hp hydronamic Simplicity

The two big terminals are one fom the battery and the other to the starter.
The two smaller ones one comes from the ignition switch and the other might just be a ground.
Test becareful is hook the battery and starter wires up; take a wire and stick one on the battery terminal and tap each of the smaller terminals; when you get a click that will and should fire the stater; make sure it is out of gear or it will start. remember that terminal and hook the ignition key to it. check the other smaller terminal is or isn't a ground one.

BATTERY HAS FULL CHARGE WHEN I TRY TO START IT IT DOES NOT TURN OVER NO CLICKING NOTHING CAN SOMEONE HELP ME. ARIENS 1740

Check to see if the solenoid is getting power. On the solenoid there are 3 wires. Two big, one from the battery, the other going to the starter. The 3rd wire is what activates the solenoid. Using a test light or volt meter. See if its getting power on the small wire when you turn the key. If no power, ignition switch, safety switches or fuses. If you are getting power replace the solenoid. If you have 4 wires. Test the two smaller ones.

Toro/Wheelhorse Tractor wont start

AS YOU HAVE CHANGED ALL OF THESE COMPONENTS TO NO AVAIL IT HAS TO BE A BREAK IN THE WIREING ITSELF, YOU WILL HAVE TO FOLLOW THE WIREING WITH A MULTI METER TO FIND WHERE THE POWER IS LOST.

Engine turns over but no spark at plug. changed plug , still no spark. On 18hp courage sv470-610. note: has no oil sentry pressure switch.

Ok, the way to trouble shoot your electrial system on your mower is first unplug the wiring harness at the engine. Now pull the plug or pluggs and put one plug in the plug wire and ground the plug to a paint free place on the engine. Now using a jumper cable (you only need one) from the mower battery postive post and push the other end to the bolt on the stater that holds the red wire on the starter. Watch the plug to see if it is firing . If not you have a bad coil, but if it is you have short circut in the switch or wiring.

Ariens lawn mower 1332 dies when put in gear

Hello

From your Description it Sounds like a Bad Saet Safety Switch.
>>The Following is the Instruction File for Checking the Seat Safety Switch.
>>***PLEASE REMEMBER THAT THE INSTRUCTIONS FOR CHECKING THE SAFETY SWITCHES IS JUST THAT!!! FOR CHECKING ONLY.***
>>I NEVER Suggest a Mower be Operated with a Safety Device or Switch Disconnected or Bypassed. **Make Sure the Switch has a Good Connection. Now; On Some Model Mowers you can Simply Unplug the Safety Switch from the Harness. On Other Models you have to Place a Jumper Wire Between the Harness Terminals (on the 4 Post Switch Jumper from Same Color Wire to Same Color Wire). The Seat Safety is Showing No One is Seating in the Seat when the Clutch or Blades are Engaged.**
Please, Do Not Hesitate, If you Hit a Snag or this Does Not Correct the Problem, I am Here if You Require More Assistance.
Hope this Helps. Let me Know What Happens, Please. May the All Mighty Bless You and Yours. Be Safe and Be Happy. Thanks.

Good Luck
