It's likely the pressure switch. If the heater isn't enough water pressure through it it won't fire. I had the same problem with mine. Try bypassing the switch with a little piece of wire and see what happens.
I replaced my switch this year and it seems to be working fine. You might want to take the switch off and let water pump through the siphon hose for a few minutes.
Good luck.

I'm having the same problem. I thought it was due to having to put some non-detergent oil in the siphon loop, but that doesn't work either....i'm still having the same problem...will not kick on!!!!

I have a Laars Max Boiler 75, 90K with white smoke out chimney

Hello
Yes,more then likely its moisture from the high effenicey system of the boiler.

I have a laars boiler at work and some mornings when its cold out it looks like there is a fire, which is really only steam.

As long as your not shutting down on low water failure or loosing pressure and holding temp. This is normal.

Hope this helps.

Boiler won't fire even though the pilot is lit

Check if the ignition plug works. Upon putting your boiler on, a spark will normally trigger the
the firing. Then, check the ignition transformer if it works. Check the secondary voltage which is between 15000 to 20000 volts to trigger the ignition plug and the boiler to fire. If no spark,
have your ignition transformer replaced to make it work.
