FFU20FC6AW4 Have issue with freezer not freezing, the temp. alarm light is on, but I do not know if this is normal or not for it to be on. Have some issues of coils having alot of frost on them after I pulled cover off from inside. Unsure if one problem or combination of issues. Relay, temp control or what. thanks chris

Thanks for the info. I know that the fan works because when I let it thaw out I turned it back on and it ran for a little while and then cut off but never cooled. I will look into the other suggestions that you gave. Thanks again.

I have the exact problem, I called out a repairman and he showed me the coils. The top one had some frost on them. The remaining bottom ones had no frost on them at all. He told me it had a leak somewhere in the wall and it wasn't worth fixing. He told me it was probably low in freon. I had someone put some freon in it. My temp light is still on and it is not cooling at all. My meat has'nt defrosted yet and things want freeze either. I'm thinking the thermostat might be bad.

I also had the same problem today, Feb 17, 2009. After I called a technicial out to my house he informed me that there was a leak in the freon line and that it would not be cost effective to pay for the troubleshooting and repair of the lines inside the cabinet. I purchased mine in June 2006 and am hopeful the warranty from the factory is still valid. Cannot determine if it is or not. Does anyone out there know what this items manufacture date is, I would sure like to know.

You said the coil was freezing up? have you checked your defrost element? if your handy with a voltmeter put it on the "beeping mode" (disconnect the fridge's power first) and test the element if it beeps its good, and means that the defrost control isn't working it could be a timer or a board, also check the freezer fan rotate the blades if it dosen't rotate the fan is stuck. if the fans turns out o.k, the defrost thermostat is defective (thats the little metal ball type control befor the heaters).

Why does freezer's alarm sound every 12 hrs?

There could be an ice build up sensor on the coil. try turning it off and using a hair dryer to melt any ice on the coil. This would be inside the rear of the freezer, you would direct the hot air into the vent that the cold air normally comes out of.

The temp on my freezer is on normal and was working ok then just stopped and the red light is on turned up the temp to make it colder and the fast freeze but not working and everything is defrosting

Hi Denise, thank you for allowing me to assist you!

Did the unit previously experience a power loss? If the temperature of food rises to an unsafe level, the buzzer will typically sound and the red light, if equipped, will also glow. First, deactivate the alarm to the unit by unplugging it or flipping the household circuit breaker. Wait approximately ten minutes and then turn on the unit. After deactivating the alarm and the unit has run approximately four hours, the red light/alarm should go off on its own. If the red light/alarm continues to stay on, the freezer may possibly have a communication problem with the control board, temperature control or a wiring harness. If this is the case, I would recommend connecting with an experienced technician to determine the underlying cause.

Best regards!

My freezer has a different code number;ZFT710FW.I put quite a lot of food into the freezer yesterday and the alarm now keeps sounding,I have put the temperature up but the red light is still flashing...

Red Alarm Indicator Light
Under normal operating conditions, the internal temperature of the freezer will ensure the long-term conservation of the stored food. When such temperature rises above a certain level (-12 °C), the appliance will trigger an acoustic and light alarm. The light alarm is a blink red light (Red Alarm Indicator Light), while the acoustic alarm is an intermittent sound.
You can stop the acoustic alarm by pressing the Acoustic Signal Stop Switch once.

When switching on the freezer for the first time, the Red Alarm Indicator Light will blink until the internal temperature has reached a level required for the safe conservation of frozen food.

Fast Freeze function
If more than 3-4 kg of food is to be frozen:
1. Press the Fast Freeze Switch for 2-3 seconds to activate the fast-freeze function 6-24 hours before placing the fresh food in the freezer, the Yellow Fast Freeze Indicator Light will illuminate. The compressor will now run continuously, to ensure that the fresh food is frozen as quickly as possible.
2. It is possible to deactivate the function at any time by pressing the Fast Freeze Switch for 2-3 seconds.
3. Place the foods in the freezing compartments (indicated with graphics).
4. Once the food is completely frozen (it may take up to 24 hours) you can manually switch off the fastfreeze function by pressing the Fast Freeze Switch for 2- 3 seconds and the Yellow Fast Freeze Indicator light will also go out.
5. Move frozen food from the freezing compartments into the other compartments (storing compartments) to make room for another freezing.

If the Fast Freeze Switch is accidentally left on, the fast-freeze function will be automatically switched off 48 hours later. The Yellow Fast Freeze Indicator light will also go out.

I believe that you all understand. If you intend to freeze larger amount of food then certainly a few hours before some shopping switch on the fast freeze function.

Have you cleaned the condenser grill and made sure you have plenty of air flow around the unit? It might also be time to take the food out and completely defrost your freezer! Since you do have an ice build up on your evaporator grill.

Hello derek143

You Said,
I have a Whirlpool upright freezer AFG 371/H there is a digital display and lights and buttons, on/off temp alarm etc running across the top of the freezer. None of this works but the freezer is still freezing. i have no idea what the temp is.

I think you should try unplugging it for 5 minutes and then try restarting it and see if it reset.

The buzzer is loud

Frigidaire # LFFH2067DoW2 # WB52430831 upright freezer (frost free commercial)

Freezer is still freezing. The alarm sounded and I switched the switch off to turn off. The manual says that the temperature isn't at the right temperature and once it reaches the correct freezing temperature the light will come back on or the sound would go off after at least 4 hours. This was since last night about 6:00 and if i switch the switch the alarm is still sounding. The left side of the freezer is a little warmer than usual. Any suggestions
