Check the flame sensor and main gas valve coil(s). Also check the ignitor. One of the coils may be weak and act up after the machine heats up.

MY DRYER WILL NOT GET HOT THE TIMMER WILL NOT WORK

first things first..understanding that this is a gas dryer, is the gas lever handle on the fuel line open?..also, as there is no heat, does the drum turn?..i wish there was more info into your question..assuming that the dryer operates but the only thing missing is the heat, lets start with the most common problem being a broken hot surface ignitor..(2) bad temperature selector switch..(3) faulty limit switch..(4) bad thermostat..(5) faulty timer..(6) bad centrifugal switch..if all of the above pass their tests, you need to make certain that there isn't a build up of dryer lint around the burner. Sometimes, lint will impede the gas flow preventing the unit from igniting

Roper dryer not heating/drying but still rotates drum.

If electric then the thermostat or the heating element has failed.
If gas: First thing to check is the ignitor underneath the drum. (You have to open the panel to see it) It should glow shortly after the dryer starts, then the flame starts and the ignitor shuts off. If the ignitor does not glow then it or the thermostat is bad. If the ignitor is glowing but the gas does not light then the flame sensor may have to be replaced. If the gas ignites but does not stay on either the flame sensor or the coils are at fault.

Roper brand electric dryer will not stay hot

Sounds like it may be short cycling on the Hi Limit instead of the operating thermostat. Only way to be sure is to measure the temp inside the drum while operating with a load. Another way is to measure the voltage across the Hi Limit and it should always be zero. Lots of juice (240VAC) back there and safety is paramount.

Roper Gas Dryer

The first thing I would check is the thermal fuse (#6 on the bulkhead parts break down diagram). Replace if it's open.
Also, the manufacturer recommended to replace the cycling thermostat (#8 on the bulkhead parts break down diagram) too if the thermal fuse is open.

- The part number for the thermal fuse AP3132867

- The part number for the cycling thermostat AP3131939

- Here are the break down diagrams for the Roper dryer Model RGX4634KQ2
