That HP code is generally a failed or failing disk. They ask that you contact HP support. Here is the URL
http://tinyurl.com/2by9spq

You can use other disk tools to determine if it is a failed disk, then replace it yourself or have a local tech. do it.

What does a biohd-2 message mean?

That error code means that your hard disk has failed. You can use the hard disk diagnostic test in BIOS for further confirmation. If either short or long test does not pass or causes your PC to reboot, the hard disk must be replaced
Unfortunately the normal solution for this is:
Locate your Recovery disc set or usb recovery media. I hope you took the time to make it.( your HP software asked you to do this)
Purchase a new SATA2 hard disk of equal (500 GB) or greater size. Remove the failed disk and install the new one.
Follow the instructions here and restore your original operating system to the new hard disk.

Error code 0300 on disk drive A

0300 Flexible disk drive (A) boot error POST has detected the flexible disk drive (A) reported an error during its self-test.

To correct this:

1. Verify a diskette can be properly inserted and removed from the flexible disk drive.

2. Verify the flexible drive type configured in the Setup utility matches the flexible disk drive installed in the HP Server.

3. Verify all data cables and power cables are firmly connected.

4. If the problem persists, your flexible disk drive may need to be replaced. Contact your service representative.

I have an HP Pavilion dv6-1230us notebook. I noticed some skipping on my programs so decided to restart my computer. Upon restarting it I ended up with a startup failure screen, so I had it launch startup...

Get a new drive in a caddy and boot your computer within safe mode (press F8 as it loads).
Copy all you can to the new drive.
If you cannot do that, buy a replacement hard drive and load your system disk in the CD Rom drive booting from it. When the system is loaded and running, power the desktop down, fit the old drive and set the jumper as SLAVE.
Boot up your desktop and there will be what is left of your data on drive D. Copy all you require before it is too late!
Hope that helps.

My computer is not booting, I've researched and

you may want to start asking about the motherboard if the socket is bad on the motherboard then the hard drive will not be able to read. ask a tech to take your hard drive and hook it up in another pc and see if it works if it does then you might need to replace the mother board

I have bought a set of recovery disk from restoredisk.com for a1220n disktop.After install of disk system crashes with error:error loading kernel. Also system32hal.dll

Presumably, you bought _exactly_ the correct set of Recovery Disks for your specific HP.

Sounds like "hardware" problems:
* loose cable between motherboard and disk-drive,
* bad RAM (download and run the free 'MEMTEST86+' software to "test" your RAM),
* bad disk-drive,
* leaking capacitors on your motherboard
(do a visual inspection, looking for brown "gunk" on top of a capacitor, and looking for bulging capacitors)
* overheating motherboard
