Question about Kitchen Ranges

I have a Kenmore stove Model # C970-440994 Serial# N F 83420324 and now it will not let us use the top burners code error h.e. shows all the time What can we do ???

    would help if it was a washer but its a kenmore stove . did you read the problem??

    the stove is a kenmore model# C 970-440994 will not let us use the top burners has H.E on the panel board.

    one burner has a no# 7 and one has a E, the other have HE. It will clear then it will return,to the error codes. It also start to beep periodically.

That error code is incorrect your not reading it correctly kenmore error codes are like f1 i see you do have a kenmore elite stove from your model number please message back the correct error code allthe error codes would start with F please clarify and i can diagnose properly thanks again

    I have looked through many different manuals on your situation and due to the flashing and beeping i would say either your eprom on your control board is bad or what they also suggest is unpluging the unit for 10 seconds to see if it will reset most likely you will end up having to replace the control board this is usually caused from some sort of a surge in power but personally i feel they just dont build them as well as they used to on the other hand i have found one manual stating the because of the f7 error you would either have





    F7
    A= Function pad button stuck
    or
    B= Bad clock
    Unstick Button
    or
    Replace Clock



    and here is the other one from whirlpool it all depends who made your unit usually whirlpool makes the kenmores





    F7
    Stuck function switch or button on ERC
    Replace ERC (Electronic Range Control / Clock)

    then you would have a bad control board or a switch problem then remove back panel and lift up front lid cover and do power tests from the board to each control then to each burner its how you will, assure that it is a board or a switch problem

Follpw these steps to fix the problem:
•1 Check the display for an error message and identify the error message. "SUD" means that the Suds Routine has run and excessive suds remain and have been detected. "F20" indicates a water inlet problem with no or insufficient water supply. "F21" is a drain problem. "F22" is a door lock issue.
•2 Use HE (high-efficiency) detergents if the SUD error shows.
•3 Press the "Stop" button twice to cancel the cycle and unplug the washer if "F20" or "F21" shows. In the case of "F20," look for water faucets that aren't turned on, inlet hose screens that are clogged, or kinked or frozen inlet hoses. In the case of "F21," check the drain hose for kinks, freezing and clogging. Remedy and try the cycle again.
•4 Press the "Stop" button twice to cancel the cycle if "F22" shows. Check that the washer door is firmly shut--open it and shut it and try again. Make sure there aren't items blocking the closing of the door. Don't overload the basket. Try the cycle again.
•5 Press the "Stop" button twice to cancel the cycle if an error code other than "F20," "F21" and "F22" shows. Choose the "Drain & Spin" cycle if there is excessive water in the machine. Start the cycle again, and call for service if the error message reappears.

I have the same problem with ours! Our 2 small burners don't work at all and the 2 larger ones only work bright red hot. I called Sears and they said there is no recall on my particular model, but there are tons of recalls on other models. The problem is with the venting from the oven doing damage to the wiring (shorting them out maybe?). We're trying to find someone who knows anything about this and if we can get it fixed as our stove is only 3 years old.

My oven when turned on goes to F1 and the heat is like broil...only the top burner comes on????


Hello,Please use the chart to determine which stove you have. You will have to look at the model number. The first 3 numbers will be the series on the chart. In most cases an F1 error would require replacement of the electronic control. This part is commonly refered to as an EOC or ERC. However this type of repair is usually reserved for repair specialists.

KENMORE Range/Stove/Oven Fault Codes – 362 Series (General Electric)
F1 = Stuck Touch Pad Key - Replace Electronic Range Control (ERC).

KENMORE - 911 Series (General Electric/Roper)
F0-F1-FF = Failed transistor in Electronic Range Control (ERC).

KENMORE Range/Stove/Oven Fault Codes- 665 Series (Whirlpool)
F1-E0 EPROM Error - Electronic Range Control (ERC).
F1-E1 EPROM Error - Electronic Range Control (ERC).
F1-E2 U/L ERC Errors - Electronic Range Control (ERC).
F1-E3 Fuel Type Fail

Kill power 30 seconds-Cancel-Start/Enter-5 seconds-Should see “E” for electric-
“9” for gas-If code changes again-replace Electronic Range Control (ERC).

KENMORE - 790 Series Electronic Oven Control (Frigidaire)
F1 = Shorted Touch Pad = Electronic Range Control (EOC) Internal check sum error.
Runaway Temp = Replace Electronic Oven Control (EOC).

You're stove must be perfectly fine, but the thing displaying all those options may have a problem. Try to get this fixed as soon as possible.

Kenmore gas stove top switch harness replacement instructions


for the 4 burner if u not use coz of no igniter,use matches or lighter every time to use,if not turn the burner remove the knob & try to use hammer slowly at the top of the gas valve mostly the problem is stockcup,use oil b4 u try to turn.for the harness wire call the contact service center to buy a harness wire to replace the parts,but it so easily to replace the wire try to open the unit to see the wire size,color then gi to hardware to buy a wire same as in ur unit.tnx gerbee

Error code


Same thing happened to me. Reset your stove top by flipping your fuse off. The stove top will reset and the error code will go away.

Problem codes for self-cleaning ranges


My experience (Kenmore Ultra-bake Model 665-72002102) was that E1 F5 meant an error with the oven lock switch. In our case, the latch was partly stuck from food or other debris. Just moving the latch back and forth loosened the scale that was making it stick, and it worked again.
