Question about Canon Office Equipment & Supplies

1 Answer

I have a canon D2400U scanner. When trying to scan a photo, the scanner does its little back/forward shuffle then slowly drives back, past the start position until it jams and the belt jumps on the gear. I have switched off, restarted, etc but can't get past this point. Using windows XP.

I just had exactly the same pb; could find that the 12V dc power unit was bad; changed it and then everything is OK
It looks like the quality of 12V current isn't good (regulation failed)
For replacement I actually used a PC Power unit, and reused the DC cable (with the ferrites) for the scanner's plug isn't a standard one.

SOURCE: Scanner is jammed

There is usually a scanner lock button on these units, either located under the Auto feeder on the left side, or on the left side of the machine

Check if there is enough disk space in the comp target area. Run defrag and scandisk.

after you have a scanner in your home you need to install drivers and connect the scanner with your computer. the photo you would like to can just place over the scanner background and give the command of scan from your computer automatically or start scan manually from the scanner and you have to save the scanned photo in your favorite folder of your computer, to use it afterwards

Try using different software for scanning. e.g. Photoshop Select the right scanner, for Canon you usually see WIA. Then import image and select Canon. New window will pop-out and you can start scanning. Be sure to press the SCAN button of the machine before scanning.

Im trying to scan and the canon says: "set the pc to start scan"...? Nothing pops up on the computer, what do i need to do?

I'm using an MG5220 and got this same message. Here's how I fixed it.

On the printer control panel press the soft key to select the scan function. Then hit the soft key to select Save/Forward. Then select Foward scanned data to a PC. On the next screen make sure to select the appropriate PC. In my case I'm connected wireless but the selection was set to USB connection and that's why I was getting the error noted above. When I picked the PC that is connected wirelessly everything worked fine again.

Will not scan photos, only slides

Where are you scanning from? Do you get an error? If scanning from Toolbox, check the box that says to use ScanGear or use the Scanner driver. Then make sure it is not set for Film as the select source.

Scanning 4 x 6 photos

Try reinstalling the scanner driver or scanning in different resolutions.
The stretching is probably caused by the scanner motor, it isn't moving at the right speed. It also can be a hardware problem inside the scanner.
