Question about Olympus FE-280 Digital Camera

2 Answers

Reformatting I accidentally pushed something and the camera reformatted.  Now I have lost all of my pictures.  Is there any way to recover them.  I understand from another source that when this happens on an Olympus and Sony it is fatal.

All right! Don't worry! There is still a way for you to restore all your wanted pictures back from this formatted camera as long as you've not rewritten your previous images with anything new.
In fact, after the deletion or formatting, the contained data on a camera is not immediately destroyed before they are overwritten by any new data on the same camera. Therefore, stop using this camera right now and download a data recovery freeware to get them all back.
The data recovery process is often complicated and cannot be accomplished by ourselves, especially for some computer beginner or noob.
So, in order to get back these lost files, you'd better try these camera data recovery freeware:

Never forget to back up everything important on another location in the future.

I accidentally pushed "format" while looking through my pictures and it seems to have deleted them all! Where did they go!

They'll still be on the memory card as long as they have not been overwritten with new files. This is true if you accidentally "erased" them or even if you reformatted the card.

If you put the card into an external card reader and use free SD card recovery software then you should be able to recover the data. If you can't recover the information, then bear in mind that the best recovery software can recover almost anything but is not free. You could choose to invest in better software or send the card to a data recovery specialist and pay a professional fee for the service.

Best of luck, as long as you don't re-use your card before trying to recover the data then there's a very good chance of getting your photos back. Please don't forget to take a moment to rate my answer.

Format is used to clean everything off your memory card or memory device. Do not format until you have downloaded your pics.

I seems they are lost.

Is it possible to recover my formatted pictures on my XD card

Deleting or formatting won't make the data in xd card erased permanently.

Those deleted data is still stored on the xd card, it's just invisible or inaccessible. Only the FAT or NFTS table is erased (the information about where those data were saved), but the real data are still intact there in sectors of xd card .

So as long as those data are not overwritten by new data, it's highly possible to recover them. And the MOST Effective way is to rely on some format recovery programs.

Try asoftech data recovery program, which can recover data after deeply scanning your xd card drive to look for lost data you accidentally deleted or formatted.

Accidental reformatting of memory card

First do not panic! It is possible to recover your pictures if you take care. Take the card from the camera (powered off) and if it has a "write protect" tab then lock it now. Do not try and write anything to the card or you risk causing more problems.

You can either plug in you camera to the PC as it should appear as a “Removable Drive” or put the card in a card reader attached to your PC.

Next, if you are comfortable with using a PC then you can download a FREE utility that will recover your photos from the following link:

If you need something a little more "user friendly" then you will need to buy the software. If you search the web for photo recovery software you will find many.
One I have used successfully is RescuePro that used to be bundled with some Sandisk products. Now you can get it from the link below:

http://www.lc-tech.com/software/prwindetail.html.

You can try the demo to see what you can recover before buying.

Remember - Do NOT try & write anything back to the card until you can recover your pictures to your PC safely!

Please take a moment to rate this solution & let us know if the information given was useful to you – Good Luck!

Recovering lost images in the camera

You might be able to try PictureDoctor. It's a program that you can download that might be able to retrieve the lost images. It's not a guarantee, but it's worth a try. I can't say how good it is though. I've never used it.
Oh and chances are, the resize didn't delete your pictures. Maybe your son accidentally reformatted your card on accident. But even then, there should still be some information on the card. If the Picture Doctor doesn't work, try going to your local camera store (Not something like Kits Cameras, but like a local photographer.)

Is it possible to recover my pictures?

You can often successfully recover deleted files from a PC, phone or camera memory card or USB Memory stick, it just depends on what's happened since the files were deleted.
When you delete files the data itself isn't deleted, just the index entry that says where the data for those files is located. The space containing the deleted files is also now marked as free space so it is available to the system for any new files to be written there instead.

If and when that happens, then it becomes too late to recover your deleted files so it is very, very important to not save any new files or data to the device concerned.
If the deleted files are on a memory card or USB memory stick, just don't save any new files to it.

One of the easiest ways to see if you can recover deleted photos is to try some picture recovery software. Recommended asoftech photo recovery as it saved my life many times.
