Question about Dacor DMT2420SS Microwave Oven

1 Answer

Dacor DMT2420S Microwave has light and touch pad fully functional but when you push start, the clock counts down normally but no sound of the oven running nor does the turntable turn. Food does not heat. Any chance of repair or must it be replaced?

Simple fix.

You need to replace the bottom door switch, or repair its loose or broken mount.

See this help file on door switches, and refer to the service manual here for disassembly help.

You can find part numbers here and order Dacor parts (by part number only) here.

If a switch is all you need, we offer a universal type for only $5 postpaid which you can order here.

We're happy to help you with free advice and we'd appreciate your thoughtful rating of our answer.

There's no reset button, and if the fuse were blown, the oven would be totally dead.

Your problem is almost certainly a failed secondary interlock (bottom door switch) or its mount.

You can see our help file on door switches here and the service manual here.

It sounds like you need to have the control panel assembly repaired or your CPU unit replaced and you need a new bottom door switch.

We regularly repair these control units for customers nationwide by mail for $39.95 postpaid in about a week or so with a one-year guarantee.

Or you can order our exclusive modified control unit with our proprietary upgrades for $115, then if you return your defective control unit in repairable, good cosmetic condition, we'll give you a core refund of $30. It comes with a one-year guarantee. See details here.

We have the service manual and have uploaded it our site here to help you. It covers disassembly.

Also see this file.

You can order a universal type switch here for $5 postpaid.

The touch screen on our Dacor DMT2420S is lit, but there are no "buttons" to use to control the microwave. None of the other buttons work either.

The clock works & counts down but the microwave won't heat

  • Disconnect the power for 30 seconds. After restoring power, do not set the clock.
  • If your model has an ON/OFF clock display, you can choose not to have the time displayed. To choose this option, press the 0 pad for about three seconds. To Turn the display back on, press the 0 again.

Touch the clock pad. Enter in the correct time of day by touching the numbers in sequence. Touch the clock pad again.
