I keep getting the following when opening or sending mail: The message could not be sent. The setting for your outgoing email [SMTP] server might need to be configured. To find the server settings for...

Quick summary:
It appears that email address does not exist - which is why your email program was unable to send the message. There may be a small typographical error in the address - which you would need to correct in order to send the message successfully.

Background:
The error message you received says the "domain does not resolve". That means your outgoing server (which is used for sending messages) couldn't find the information about the recipient's address -- and more specifically, the "domain" of the recipient's address. (That's the portion of an email address following the "@" sign.)

The error message indicates the domain of the recipient's address is "quickfireprocuctions.com". But a quick check of domain registration records indicates there is no registered domain by that name. And if a domain is not registered, there can't be any websites or email addresses which use that domain name.

However, there is a properly registered domain "quickfireproductions.com" (with a "d" rather than a "c"). That seems much more likely - as the combination of recognizable words ("quick" "fire" "productions"). That domain is registered to owners in Florida, USA. See details at: http://whois.domaintools.com/quickfireproductions.com

Solution:
If that registered domain name sounds right, then you should revise the email address in your message to use the correct domain name (i.e., replacing the "c" with a "d").

Microsoft outlook won't send or receice email

i guess you are in a office domain while inside office, so you can just connect your network cable / wireless lan and send / Rcv mails....but once you ar at home you are out of the office network / domain.....
to send mails from home you need to check with your network admin guy how to do that, as you may have to get a login id and password for connecting to your official domain from a public network....
there are many things that need to be done for that....
1 you need to get into the domain of your org.
2 your PC / email setting needs to be given the correct DNS address, IP address, mail box address etc....
Pls check with your email admin guy and get it fixed.

SMPT Error 551- I am an Australian travelling in China and contiually get the above error message when trying to send emails. Is there a simple fix?

SMTP Error 551 : If neither the sending mail address nor the recipient’s address are locally hosted by the server, then the ISP’s servers may refuse to relay the message on. Some ISPs implement this restriction to thwart spammers. In our view, this is a lazy and incompetent method of fighting spam as most of the time it does nothing but inconvenience no-one other than the ISP’s vast majority of considerate and law abiding users. In our experience this usually goes hand in hand with barely competent technical support. At the time of writing, 14-Sep-2008, a typical culprit for this is BT, British Telecom, in the UK. The way in which it manifests itself is as follows : you have a domain that is hosted by CrystalTech.com but your ISP is DodgyISP.com and you try to send emails from your domain to NicePeople@yahoo.usa. Neither your domain nor Yahoo.usa are hosted by DodgyISP.com, as a result your email is not accepted by DodgyISP’s mail servers and your mail server is returned an SMTP Error 551. To correct the problem you have to call DodgyISP.com and ask them to enter your domain name as an allowed sender.

When I try to open any link in windows mail I get an error message that application cannot be found

Check for your internet connection/network connection to the application where the link redirects you. Probably being on a different domain or without proper connectivity the authentication is not taking place hence it prompts for access denied or no application connectivity

Apple iPhone and Network Solutions web mail

So I had the same problem using a Network Solutions mail account and got it working. Here is what I did:

Name: Whatever you want
Address: first.last@domain.com (user specific) Must include the @domain
Description: same as above
INCOMING MAIL SERVER
User Name: first.last@domain.com (user specific) Must include the @domain
password: password
OUTGOING MAIL SERVER
Host name: smtp.domain.com
Username:no entry
password:no entry

At message that SSL failed select YES to continue without using SSL should get message twice (incoming & outgoing server tests)

Made no changes to Authentication (default-password) or Server port (default-25)

Came up and began to load mail instantly.Sent test mail and all is good.
