Question about Televison & Video

1 Answer

Hello ~ I have a 15" flat panel TechView LG1565UA tv that is having sound problems. There are 5 channels that no longer have sound, although all the other channels are just fine. All my other sets get sound on all channels, so I know it's not the fault of my cable provider. This tv is now 6.5 years old, originally purchased from Sears. Is it possible to solve this issue or is it time for a new tv for my kitchen? Many thanks. Jackie

Hello ~ Thank you for your reply, but I am happy to report that the tv is fine and was not the problem after all. Turns out that Comcast's digital tv adapter (DTA) has a language button, and when pressed, it suppresses sound on channels which are not also dubbed in Spanish! I searched for nearly an hour online yesterday (after posting this question) when I found LOTS of people had complained about the same thing. Pressing the Comcast DTA remote control's "lang" button again, solved the problem in 2 seconds. So sorry to trouble you, but I am thrilled that I do not have to replace a perfectly good tv. This is good information to know about the DTA

Hello,

yes, the problem can be fixed but you need to have the technical know how of how to fix the problem.

The problem is most likely from the TV's Sound IC or sound chip.

I would suggest you take the TV to the nearest repair man to help you fix the problem. But if you feel its high time you got another TV, you can get a new one.

Take care.

I have a Bush 42"

The screen is the most expensive part of the TV.

This plus engineers cost would be not cost effective.

It would be worth getting a quote but more than likely getting a new TV would be better.

Need new remote control or code for a universal remote

After I typed in "replacement TV remotes" into the Google searchbox, I received numerous hits. One website in particular (Remotes.com) , sells several replacement remotes for Techview TVs. Their tollfree number is 1-800-REMOTES.
The Techview company is no longer in business, which explains why it is not currently listed in the TV code booklets you used.

Hello

I'm not so sure if the problem derives from the power supply or the condenser/capacitor box. Actually these two problems are the most common ones that we are told about.
