Batteries are probably dead and need replaced. You will find the correct battery type at shaveroutlet.com. See link below. You will need to order two batteries

http://shaveroutlet.com/shaver-battery-pack-for-most-shavers-p-211.html

To replace, you will need to remove the back cover. To do so, remove the three screws on the back. One is easily visable. Slide trimmer up to see second screw. The third screw is tougher...you need to pry out the trimmer at the top where it flips out from the shaver body to get to it.
Once removed, you will be able to access the batteries. They are soldered to wirdes. Unsolder the old ones and solder in the new ones

If you are unable to do this yourself, shaveroutlet.com can do it for you. See link below

If the phone was totally dead before it refused to charge initially, then the refusal to charge is due to the fact that there was no residual charge left to bring it to a charge, because the battery completely died.
To fix it, kick start the charging process.
Remove the battery, and using a universal charger (desktop charger) charge the battery for say 10 minutes, before re- inserting the battery to the phone and continuing with the normal charging process.
If this does not work out, then problem is with the charging port. It has to be replaced. This can be done by nearby local phone repairers.
Hope it helps?
Success.

The shaver sat, in a safe environment, for about a year. naturally, the battery wasn't working, so I plugged it in to charge it. It's been charging for about 2 hours, but nothing seems to be happening....

The battery has died because it was left discharged for too long. If you can get a replacement battery you should if it is a reasonable cost compared with replacing the shaver. Can you get the battery out? If so I will try to help further

My babyliss 789ou has lost the ability to set adjustment, this happened after travelling

This commonly happens to travelers. The voltage of electrical outlets differ depending on where you travel. Shavers bought in one country are specifically designed to handle the outlets of that country but plugging into a potentially higher output outlet you blow out the motor of your shaver which it seems like you did. The only real solution would be buying a new shaver. It had nothing to do with the shaver itself, simply a mix-up in charging the battery which caused the motor to overheat.

My Braun tootbrush has never charges-i have a 240 & 11v shaver socket but nothing seems to happen when i plug it in?

When charging a device on some type of charging block you need to plug it into a regular 110 socket as the block has the correct modifications in it for the device that it charges. This 11volt shaver socket is for older shavers that dont charge up you just plug them in and use them.I hope this helps you ....good luck

Yes, there is an internal battery and it can be replaced. You will find the battery you need at shaveroutlet.com. See link below
http://shaveroutlet.com/shaver-battery-pack-for-most-shavers-p-211.html
You will need one or two batteries depending on the internal configuration of your model.

To open the shaver, you will need to remove the two screws on the back of the shaver. Once the back cover is removed, you will be able to access the battery pack and circuit board. You will need to unsolder the old battery pack from the circuit board and solder in the new one

I have a Braun 360 and I haven?t had a problem with it for over 2 years, now all of a sudden the cleaning station is making continuous clicking sounds and it will not register, clean or charge the shaver....

Hello,
I can't suggest anything for cleaning station but for direct connection of shaver please follow the possible solution below.
Your Rechargeable batteries (built in) could have been dead..and needs to be replaced.Normally they die in 2 to 3 years depending on the frequency of usage.
But before taking it to a repair shop ,make sure you check the power cord / adapter as well,
because sometimes one of the lead cracks at the point that it attaches to shaver for charging, which the power cord/adapter needs to be replaced. You can ask one of your friend to borrow its adapter for testing purposes.
If you wish you can describe the problem more details than I may suggest something else.
Regards.

It sounds like your batteries are no longer able to hold a charge and are in need of replacement. With all rechargeable shavers, once the batteries are incapable of holding even a minimal charge, the shaver becomes unable to be used, sometimes even wih the power cord plugged into an outlet. My Braun shavers all worked for about a year after it would no longer operate on battery power alone, then the shavers all stopped working regardless of being plugged in directly to an outlet.

As you mentioned you are still under the warranty period, I would suggest you contact the company and request warranty service for your shaver.

if you weren't under warranty, I would advise getting the replacement batteries and doing a repair yourself.

Hope you find this Very Helpful and best regards!

Just bought braun 8585 electric shaver, return it to the store as nothing happens while charging. Got a new one and still not able to charge it, shouldn't the indicator turn red or green? nothing happens....

Did you insert a cartridge into the cleaning base? It needs that in order to work. Otherwise, try plugging the charger directly into the shaver. It should definitely charge the shaver, as long as the shaver is fine. Depending on the model, the charging indicator may be green or blue.

Cleaning base

I have been shaving with electric razors for 48 years, and the Braun 8595 is by far the best one yet.
I have had the problem of the refusal of the cleaning station to recognize the level of fluid in the cartridge, three times over the last couple of years. It seems to relate to a build up of shavings in the unit. To get it working again I inverted the unit, and carefully flushed water via a small tube, back through the 1cm diameter hole in the underside of the open base. Of course, the unit must then be thoroughly dried before use, or the sparks may fly. Does anyone know how to dismantle the unit for a safer and more thorough clean?
