Question about Frigidaire FAH106N1 Wall/Window Air Conditioner

1 Answer

Power Cord keeps tripping because somehow water is in the cord. Tell me why and how this happened? We have a new big one that's 25,000 BTU (I think). Any suggestions on how to fix this? hunbrata@otelco.net

Make sure it is draining correctly in the bottom back. Sometimes the fan sprays the water on the cord.

Power cord blew where it connects to the washer. See below.

I am not sure what bracket you are talking about. The normal setup is the electric cord goes through a metal connector and connects up to a terminal block. I think the bracket you are talking about may be the connector where the wire enters the washer. If this is the case you will need a new connector and a new power cord. If you go to a store like Lowe's or Home Depot and go to the electric dept just tell the salesman what you are trying to do and he will show you the parts you need. I also think the origination connector was to tight and movement of the washer caused it to cut into the wire causing it to short out and trip the breaker.

I have an Amana PTAC ac 15000 BTU that has stopped, the power cord keeps tripping. I removed the power cord and plugged it in to the socket and the breaker did not trip, any clues. I'm thinking of jus

I think you've gotton your moneys worth with ten trouble free years. The power cords safety device is a bit more sensitive to a high resistive short to ground than your breaker is. I would suggest that there is exactly that: a high resistive short to ground within the cabinet of the PTAC. It has been years since I have been on a PTAC call and am unable to suggest specifics. But if you are competent and capable of using a DVOM, open up the unit and begin a systematic approach of determining the problem.

The FIRST thing I'd do is check the motor and the compressor with a digital megohmeter. Sometimes their problem will only show up with this sensitive device.

Frigidaire FRA 155MT1 melted the extension cord and surge protector

You must use a heavy duty power cord with this unit as it draws alot of amerage. Most regular extension cords csnnot handle the amperage and overheat or melt.
