1) Do not pay attention to speed burning, in my opinion the slower the better.

2) the burner may be dusty, buy a dry dvd lens cleaner and use it.

3) try other media like Verbatiom or Teac and compare results.

4) the lifespan of any burner (depends on use) is about 18 months (my nec 7170-AD stopped working after 10 months), you may have exeded the life span of your burner, replace with new one.

Tip

Upgrade your NEC ND-3500AG firmware here

I used to have one of these I had no problems however I am not sure if its the DVD burner that is causing you the problem. Feel free to download my old toolkit for the NEC ND-3500AG lots of great bin files and information including the best and latest firmware flasher.

I suggest changing your DVD Authoring Software I always use TMPGEnc v4.0 Xpress then convert the MPG2 into DVD-Video using
VSO's ConvertXtoDVD v0.5299b this is the freeware version however its much improved v4.0.6.316 is available to buy HERE it costs $35.

I have never had any AV synch or encoding problems using these two apps I always use VSO's own Patin Couffin for controlling the Burner you can even select this if you use Imageburn for ISO creation and burning as well

Try to burning other dvd's from your disk. Install Nero or Raxio creator software for burning dvd's. If this is your dvd drive problem, discuss this to your dealer.

Cannot copy files to DVD disks

First of all you should have the recording tab ON. Have you tried burning using Nero instead of dragging and dropping? This may solve the problem.

However, if you prefer to drag and drop, try setting the write speed to a slower setting, even if the dvd burner has faster write capabilities.

1. I do not think it is a hardware issue.

2. You can try replacing the IDE cable, but if you can read the contents of the disk it does not suggest a communication issue between the drive and mobo.

3. I do not think that the burning software is to blame, when you drag and drop you are actually using a windows based burning software that is installed with the operating system.

4. set up your files to burn through nero, let the software do the work.

I had the same issue with my dvd burner, although slightly different error messages, solved it by using nero instead.

well what you can try is
1.) Cleaning your registery out
2.) deleting all temp files
3.) defragmenting your registery

to do all the above you can use a product know as tune up utilities aviable here www.phazeddl,com type yune up in the search box and search it

4.) defragmenting your harddrive
to to this go into my computer
right click on local disc and click properties.
clicl tools the defrag

5 delete your preftech files
they are located in c:\windows\prefetch

6 empty your recycle bin

7 restart

ensure you have 16x media and your burningspeed is set to 16x

4x media means you can only burn at 4 8x at 8 or below, 16x at 16 or below

if all fails then you need to format and reinstall
