Question about Maytag Refrigerators

1 Answer

I just received my new Maytag stainless steel french door refrigerator. It was hooked up on Friday (today is Sunday) and there is condensation between the doors and it drips to the freezer where it turns to ice. Any advice? I live in Michigan where it is hot and humid this summer. Just turned on the humidity button to see if this helps, per the manual. It is currently in an almost-finished new home construction, so the temp in the home is hot and humid also. Thanks for your assistance!

Sounds like you have a Ice2O refrigerator (nice). Is it the 22 or 27 cu.ft. model? Are you sure the unit is properly leveled? If the top doors have a tendency to flop open (or closed) then the unit is probably not level (front-back/side-side). Normally, condensation should be channeled to the rear compressor evaporator pan. I live in Michigan too, and it has been very humid this summer. If you are still having problems, write back. -- SWT

Im thinking maybe a power surge was felt by the refrigerator.

Try unplugging from wall for a couple minutes and then plugging it in again.

Hope this resets it...

Freezer and refrigerator does not get cold this problem started today 4/20/2011 i hear it running but no cold air

There is a coil typically these days under the refrigerator and it accumulates lint/dust. When this becomes too thick it blocks the air flow through the condenser coil. If it is under the refer, there is a panel either in the front lower section that can come off or there is a panel on the rear that can be removed to access it that way. At this point just blow/****/dust off the region.

Left freezer open for 4 days

Yes. Every thing will run and the only time unit will shut off is when it reached auto defrost. Door open will just not let temps reach normal ranges. There is no protection for this.

I have condensation dripping right behind where the french doors meet on the ceiling of fridge, how can i solve this problem?

Possible that your door gasket is not sealing very well and therefore condensation forms in this area?
