Hi

Thanks for using FixYa. Error F2 in your range/oven means oven temperature sensor circuit failure. To resolve this issue you’ll have to check the oven temp. sensor circuit if the reading is more then 1100ohms then it should be replaced however, if the rating is fine then it is the Electronic Range Control (ERC) that has gone bad & should be replaced. Please do accept the solution if the issue is resolved or post a comment for further assistance.

Thanks
Rylee

I purchased a house w/ a Jenn-air elect. drop-in range. The Model # is 87946 or 87847. I believe the range was originally purchased in 1975. I am in need of an instruction manual .

Neither of these are a typical Jenn-Air model number. http://shared.whirlpoolcorp.com/product_literature/search.jsp?siteCd=JA_EN_US suggests that the model number is on the back wall under the burner on the right side of a drop-in cooktop. For a range the model number is often on the frame inside the oven door, below the vent or on the back of the top of the range.

87946 or 87847 are the part numbers for the cartridges (the elements or the surrounding housing).

Look at the model number locations at the "Help me find my model number" link and try to locate a model number on your range. Then enter that model into the search box. The manual is probably available with the correct part number. Most Jenn-air electric cooktops start with JEC in their model number.

I hope this helps you locate the manual.

My folks recently purchased a house with a Jenn-Air S160 electric grill-range/oven. The left hand side electric burner cartridge's back burner superheats on the low setting. I've switched the burner...

Sounds like the problem is in the control assy. especially if you switched the burnners and the problem remained. Go to the jenn-air website and see if they have a parts breakdown for your unit.
Record the model number of the unit before you search, you will need that info.

My microwave/convection oven (a GE unit model JES1290SK) started beeping every few seconds and displaying F6 on the control panel. I unplugged it and waited several minutes and when plugged in it displays...

The technical sheets in my files do not list F6 on the error code chart for GE microwaves.

Generally, these are the error codes possible on GE microwaves:

F1 open thermal sensor (convection models)
F2 shorted thermal sensor (convection models)
F3 key panel shorted for more than 60 seconds
F4 open humidity sensor
F5 shorted humidity sensor

There should be a "mini-manual" (technical sheet) hidden inside the unit behind the control panel or hidden on the left side behind the grille, which is very helpful when troubleshooting, & testing.

Jenn Air Microwave builtin oven has no display and will not turn on. Had the power to the oven checked and it's ok. The oven stop working when it was on. The oven is 17 years old.

You should check the internal fuse as well as the oven cavity thermostat / thermal cutout and the magnetron's thermostat / thermal cutout.

If you don't find yours, or if you want to look at it without disassembling the oven, you can download it here.

If not, try here.

You can usually find helpful exploded view diagrams and order parts by entering your full model number here.

If the fuse is good, it may be the magnetron thermal cutout (TCO or thermostat) or the oven cavity thermal cutout (TCO or thermostat).

Feel free to contact me directly (and please remind me of your full model number) for more information & help.

How to clean in between glass on oven door

Normally you have to separate the door panels (as shown in the attached photo) and then you'll see the previously hidden screws you need to remove.

Or you can watch a YouTube video (not a video I made) that demonstrates how it's done.

You can usually find helpful exploded view diagrams and order parts by entering your full model number here.

I would recommend looking at those exploded views.

Gas electric with convection oven ( 48600)

Old message but maybe you are still living with the problem.
There are safety switches that must close with the oven door before  the cleaning cycle will initiate and one or more of these may have failed. Sometimes these are actuated by metal tabs on the oven door that fit into slots on the mating surface. If yours is so constructed, use a popsicle stick or similar non-conductive probe and poke it into each slot listening carefully for a quiet 'click' or a change in resistance to your insertion. If one of these sounds or feels different than the other, one of them is probably bad although finding an action doesn't guarantee that the switch is electrically functioning. Unfortunately, if your oven is constructed as described, the switches are only accessible by removing the side panels from the range.
The door lock feature is a must since the self-clean temperature must reach 900+ degrees to enable the catalytic action to occur.
