Before, I've posted this question, I've checked the disk extensively and there is no problem there.

  • m_provencher Aug 22, 2010

Pilot version is 7.15.11.7948 (2009-01-30) instead.

  • m_provencher Aug 22, 2010

This seems to be a probleme with the screen driver, not the hard disk. This was checked before this post.

  • m_provencher Aug 22, 2010

I've tried to update the pilot, but Microsoft update report an error for the new version, so it's not installed.

Please note that I'm using Windows 7 instead of Vista as written.

  • m_provencher Aug 22, 2010

This is not the Vista version, but the Windows 7 one.
I didn't have this problem with Vista - but a lot others !

  • m_provencher Aug 23, 2010

I've tried to add services gradually and I still have the problem of occasionnal blank screen.

  • m_provencher Aug 23, 2010

Is there a new pilot somewhere Tecra M7 NVidia for Windows 7 ?

  • m_provencher Aug 23, 2010

Your friend expert "nonontech" told me the same and he gave me the link for the driver. As told to him I'll try it.
I could give you a feed back also.
    Regards

Do you have a suggestion ?

Not sure if the problem you have is directly linked to the upgrade to windows 7 or just an intermittent hardware fault.

It is best to check if your model is tested as Windows 7 compatible by verifying the serial no. at this site.

Happy to help further if you can check compatibility with window 7.

Hi,

You need ACPI Flash BIOS version 3.50 for Tecra M7 nVidia.

CLICK HERE to download the file.

WinRAR 32-bit self-extracting ZIP file includes both Windows-based and diskette based BIOS update installation options. See the included documentation for details.

Riztech

This seems to be a problem with the video card, try to download the latest driver for windows 7 from the website,
the 2nd thing to notice is you got the system with windows xp but now you have windows 7, did you checked the microsoft compatibility check before you upgraded to win 7 from windows vista.
This may be the problem with the operating system or the application which you are using try to reinstall it.
This should help.
Check your Memory it should be atleast 2 gb or more.

Try this, once you restart it successfully, type in "mscnfig" in the run box (press windows key + R to open run) and press enter, now click "Startup" and click "disable all", then "Ok", restart your computer and see if it helps or not. I am sure that if there's hardware and drivers issues, this will definitely help you find out the culprit.
You can enable the start up program one after another, checking at every restart. Don't enable them all at one go, you'll not be able to narrow down the culprit.

If you need further help, let me know.

Good luck.

Thanks for using FixYa.

It seems there are several Experts involved with this problem, if possible, please add comments on the specific experts solution. I am confused which reply is mine and which isn't mine. Thanks

  • m_provencher Aug 23, 2010

Sorry for the confusion, I'm new with this system.
But, I've tried your suggestion and added services gradually and I still have the problem.
So, do you beleive that's the driver itself could be the problem with Windows 7.
I've not yet found a new driver for NVidia for my Tecra M7 whcich could comply with Windows 7.

Here it is. (click here). This is the latest version available for Nvidia Quadro NVS 110M drivers for windows 7 from Nvidia Official Website. Open the link and click the green "Download" button. The size is approximately 122 mb.

    Good luck.

  • m_provencher Aug 23, 2010

    No problem. All the best.

  • m_provencher Aug 24, 2010

I installed it and I still have the problem.
An other expert told to replace the BIOS with the version 3.50 (it has 3.20), but I can installed it because I receive an error "BIOS is not supported OS.

I am sorry, I can't assist along with the Bios, and you must understand that Dealing with Bios is not simple and it's risky. You may loose everything. Since it's related to graphics, we need to find out the root of the issue, means what is causing this problem? I am afraid if it's with Bios, honestly I'll opt out. If you want to try with the bios, you have to backup all the files, in most cases, bios update is not successful.

I also doubt that updating with that version is not possible with your machine. Downgrade may be possible, but I can't guarantee.

If there's no means, the only solution is downgrading the system's O.S. to previous version. There must be drivers conflict or must be drivers incompatible issues. You can install additional O.S. like windows vista or windows xp and check whether the problem persists or not.

If you still want to give a try, uninstall everything (like softwares, antivirus, drivers, etc.. ) which will not affect the system's boot process or running processes. Keep only the basic applications which is compulsory to run the system. Also uninstall the graphics drivers and try again. You can reinstall it later.

It's upto you, but I can only suggest you this... for now.

    Good luck.

    Thanks for using FixYa.

  • m_provencher Aug 24, 2010

Thank you for your support. So, you're right, to change the version of the BIOS is risky.
I've print out the 6 pages instructions, to discover that the version 3.50 is not vfor Vista neither to Windows 7, but only XP - even if it's rwritten for Vista and Wista on the Toshiba.
I really don't know where to go up to now.
    But, thanks for great support.

What you should do is to update the driver.

To do this connect your system to the internet and click on the start menu>control panel>device manager scroll to the driver and right click on it and select update driver software.

This will update the driver and automatically install it,you will then have to restart your system.

Also to avoid further recurrence it is best advised that you get a higher version of microsoft office that is compatible with windows vista.

I installed windows xp on my toshiba tecra m4. How stylus pen works?

Toshiba Tecra M4-S435 is Tablet PC. Windows XP (Profession) has no option of touch screen.
In order to use the feature, you need to install Windows XP Tablet PC Edition or you may install Windows 7, which supports this feature and you would definately be able to use stylus and touch screen, as I have installed Windows 7 and its working fine with all the drivers etc.

Hope it helps! Good Luck!

Clean dust from tablet pc screen

You have to remove the screw covers (the black squares around the screen), remove the screws and gentley pry the cover open with yor finger nails or a flat head screw driver, but be careful not to dent the sides with the screw driver. You can then take a can of air and blow the dust out. I would not touch the sensetive screen under neath. You could take a anti static, micro fiber cloth to wipe off the tough stuff.
