12" Milwaukee. Why does it lose power after it has been run for awhile?

Hi,

Assuming there isn't some other mechanical problem or the saw isn't being overloaded, most circular saws have motor brushes that can wear out after extended use. These brushes are usually replaceable. When the brushes are worn, they will not deliver sufficient power from the motor stator to the armature (the part that rotates).

Here is a link to a parts supplier. Find your model number and look for brushes.

My cordless drill is running at half RPM. Is it the brushes or the motor?

cordless drills have a switch that allows for more torque at lower rpms si in effect it is a 2 speed drill coupled with a variable speed switch that alters the rpms
If the drill is running I would be looking at a speed control problem at this point I would be looking at the torque control switch

My M18 cordless drill overheated and smoke came pouring out

Yes this does have brushes, they are mounted on plastic plate that has to be soldered onto the switch. That noise might be the vanes that have broken off the main rotor. If you open it up you will be able to see. Yes they can be repaired but check with the milwaukee agent for cost. Some times it is more cost effective to buy a body only. Brush card is cheap about nine pound inc vat.

the field unless dropped is a permanent magnet and WON"T fail. I would look at the contacts from the battery to the saw. This battery has a sometimes problem with heating up and makes contact difficult. you can usually see where the housing is distorted in the contact area. if you have tested the switch and sounds like you know how to use the meter check the continuity/resistance across the brush leads and while doing this turn the armature slowly to check for open portions of the commutator. if all good there then your power supply is the area of concern. Let me know if I can help anymore. And did you call the 1-800-sawdust number.

Replacing brushes and are they part of the trigger

depending on the date code, the brushes might not be replaceable. I suggest going to milwaukeetool.com and typing in your model number and under schematics find the one with the date code of your tool or get back to me with the code and I will research further, I looked at 3 breakdowns and one had replaceable brushes, and finally no they are not part of the trigger

How do you change brushes on milwaukee sawsall

depends on the model number but, if you can see a black screw on the upper and lower portion of the tool UNPLUG the TOOL and remove the screws and the brushes are underneath. If you don't find the brush caps you need to remove the handle halves and expose the rear of the motor to access the brushes. I would recommend going to Milwaukeetool.com and with your model number under service type it in to download a breakdown for this tool.

Drill was getting hot during use had electrical odor now wont run

there are no replacement brushes for this motor, it comes as a component part and runs around 48.00 for the complete motor. Give me the model number and I will get a motor number for you. I repair these everyday and replacing it is easy just keep in mind the wiring on the switch, it is polarity sensitive.

Need brushes and on-off switches for milwaukee 6140-6 hand grinders is this grinder obsolete?

I would need the exact model number and serial number to help but the brush number is 22-18-0710 and there could be a couple different switches. Either give the ser number (the alpha code) or you can go direct to Milwaukeeelectrictool.com and type in the model number 6140 on the page for the breakdown. it might be easier to let me do it. I worked there for 17 years and if you can't get the alpha code look at the switch and I would need a good description of it
