SOURCE: receiver cuts in and out

Sounds like a cold solder to me or maybe an oxidized terminal but could be something more simple.

1- If the unit still has power but no sound - Try and reseat the jumpers on the back of the unit - top middle (adapter unit)

2- If you are tapping near the speaker button it may have dirty terminals and may be cleaned with some electronics cleaner. One way to diagnose this is switch it off and on several times and see if it changes.

3- If tapping on the front panel makes it start working - can you duplicate it going back out by tapping? This may be a cold solder on the ops panel. If you have some soldering skills this may be an easy find and fix. If not you may need to take it to a repair center. By no means operate on the unit with power to it with the cover off!

Good luck!

KR-V6050 I cannot get audio to work on radio, video or any other setting. Also the red standby light stays on all the time, even when the power switch is turned off. Alan

Check the input / output connections are in the correct places. The red standby will stay on when the unit is off showing that it is ready for use. To confirm, turn the power off at the wall. The red light should go out after a few seconds.

Kenwood KR-V7080 reciever will not play through speakers.I can still plug headphones into the reciever and get audio but not through the speakers. Tested the speakers and they still work.

If the speakers used to switch off when the headphone plug was put in the socket, suspect the socket it goes into as being the trouble. It is clearly not connecting the speakers, when the headphone plug is removed.

How do I hook up my HD TV to the kenwood kr-v7080 so I can hear stereo TV ?

Maybe hook up the actual source of the TV audio (not necessarily the TV) directly to the Kenwood. Cable and SAT boxes have nice standard digital audio outputs. They're wasted on TV's which typically have sucko speakers. Lower-end analog audio is also available if you want to watch Cable/SAT throught the TV speakers.

Turn on then shut off

Unit is going into protection and then shutting down. No way to tell what is wrong. Could be blow amp channel or bad power supply.

Kenwood KR V8080 receiver

if you sent 110v down the speaker wires & into the amp you most likely have damaged the audio outputs or the output ic. Look for a big aluminum heatsing & on one side you may find 1 or 2 ic's or numerous transistors, the ic's are hard to check, the transistors are easier to check, if transistors replace in pairs. also check for burnt /open resistors near outputs
