Hello emanuelav716, Your router does not need to be connected to a phone line. However is does need to be connected to a cable or DSL modem if you want internet access. If you are just looking for a network inside your home or business the router can be setup that way. Please reply with any other questions or rate this solution if you found it helpful. Thanks! Edward

No. A wireless router has to be connected to a modem. There is no way to route dial-up.

No. It needs to be connected to your modem. Your modem is connected to either phone line or line from your cable TV company.

Can you set up a zte720 wireless home phone to a Motorola NVG589 U Verse wireless router for Boardband service?

There is no port for broadband(RJ45) output in ZTE720 so if your phone line terminates at ZTE720 then Motorola cannot be connected to it.
On the other hand if you terminate the your phone connection at Motorola NVG589 then you will get broadband and no output to connect to a phone line.
However there is a way and that is the phone line coming to your home can be connected to a splitter (it has one input and 2 outputs, one for phone(ZTE720) and other for router(MotorolaNVG589)).
Splitter will provide output for both devices and they can work simultaneously.

Your connection.

Have SBCglobal with 2wire but want N wireless capability

Follow the dots -

2 wire DSL wire to back of DSL modem.

Ethernet cable out of DSL modem, to current router (if you have one).

Ethernet cable out of current router (if you have one) to new Wireless N router.

If you currently have a wireless G router, keep it, or, use the new Wireless G/N router alone. You will need to set up all security settings again if you remove your current router, and if the new router is N only, you will need to make sure all your wireless connecting computers have wireless N cards in them.

Connecting a wireless router to Tiscalli broadband connection

  1. USB modem is connecting a PC USB port with a DSL phone line: CANNOT be connected to a ROUTER LAN (ethernet NOT USB port).
  2. Wireless ROUTER is NOT a modem and it CANNOT connect the Internet (or WAN) LAN port to any "phone line"
  3. Connect the Router Internet (WAN) port to Modem (you need a LAN MODEM = a modem with a LAN/ETHERNET port)
  4. Be sure your internet is running before strting ROUTER configuration with Router Company CD

Connecting ADSL wireless modem router to COMCAST

unfortunately you can't because the 2wire is a dsl modem it has to use the phone line to connect to the internet, it would be different if it was just a router but since it is a modem it needs that connection to the phone line in order to work

it is highly unlikely that your router would disable your phone. Although there is a possibility it may cause static on the line.

Please see my response to this question. Your university's connection is most probably a LAN connection, so you'd need to follow the instructions as if you had a cable internet connection (unlike DSL, a LAN connection and cable internet connection don't require authentication with the ISP).

Yes, you do need a modem (DSL, Cable). This router does not function as a modem.
