Question about Movado 800 Performance watch

1 Answer

In reading the movado 800 quartz chronographic instruction manuel there are 3 settings for the crown. the first is the one in which you generally wear it. the second position states it will stop the watch and this where you set it. however later in manuel it states that the second position will allow the time to continue but allows you to adjust the hour hand. on my watch the time only stops completely after pulled all the way out to the third position. this allowed me to set the watch. my question is should the time stop in the second position or only when pulled all the way out to the third. thankyou

The time should only stop when the crown is pulled all the way out in the third positiion... In the second position the 2nd hang should continue to tick and you should only be able to move the hour hand on the watch

I just recieved my Movado 800 series watch today and the large chronograph timer hand won't reset to zero (top of dial @ 12 o'clock) when I press the zero button. It resets to 56 minute position....

you do not need to return, as this is re-settable. Pull out crown to the first position (date setting) and then toggle with upper push button. If upper button do not do the job, try the bottom one. When you reach 12, then push the crown back in. Start the chrono, stop it and check if it returns to 12.

That watch has a quartz movement and most likely needs a new battery. Take it to a jeweler or to Sears for the replacement. It only takes a few minutes and should coat about $10.

The chronograph hour hand on my movado series 800 is out of sync and i cant get it back to the 0 position. I have pulled out the crown and pushed the start/stop button...

Try pulling the crown out and using the reset button to move hands beside the sweep arm. If this doesn't work then you may need to take it to a repair shop that can reset or AC the watch. With a movement as fine as Movado I wouldn't attempt this yourself. If you make a mistake the repair could cost more than the watch. Be sure that you have the watch resealed so it maintains its water resistance.

I wouldnt try to return it. I would go back and inform the store of the problem you have and they have no choice but to either fix it, show you how to solve the problem, exchange it, or at the least, return it but please give them a chance to fix the issue.
Best wishes,

How do u you set the date on movado series 800 steel watch

Turn the crown of the watch towards you until it pops out... After the crown pops out, pull on it to extend fully and you should be able to change the time at that point

My movado was cleaned and still does not work, works for short , thenit stops

Assuming it's not a quartz watch try winding it fully - about 40 turns of the crown. If you wear it daily it won't need further winding unless you skip a day or you're not very active. The watch is typically wound by the movement of your arm/wrist. Manual winding will compensate for the lack of movement.

Pull out the crown and use either a combination or one of the cronograph buttons, this will allow you to adjust the hand positions

Not completely sure what is being asked.

If what is being asked is how to reset chronograph hands to their zero point on a quartz watch then do the following:

1) Pull the crown out to the setting position.

2) press the chronograph buttons. Each one will move a different hand.

3) Once the hands are set push the crown back in.

Normally the zero point needs to be reset after a battery change or if the battery in the watch is getting weak.

Hope this helps.

My Movado Series 800 second hand zeroes out at the 3-second spot, not at zero (12).

The chronograph can be reset by pulling out the crown to the first or second position and pressing the start button or top button. This will begin to move the sweep arm and you can stop it on the 12:00 or 0 position. Make sure that when you have the battery changed they do this for you.
