I was curious as to when my Rheem 40 gallon electric water heater was purchased and installed. I fear it may be on it's last legs. The serial number is RH0198BO4391. Model # is 71-40D B. It is the...

I think that your water heater was made in 1991 so it would be 20 years old. This is not uncommon for a electric heater but you are probably right about it being on it's last legs. The good news is that a electric water heater for use in a manufactured home is no different then other building types so they are not more expensive. Gas water heaters for manufactured homes cost anywhere between 150.00-200.00 more than standard. Thank you.

Hot water temp seems ok but flow has got slower. Does not appear to be a problem with the diverter valve, as it is not bypassing. (this valve was changed last year) Mains cold pressure is fine. Boiler...

The last sentence in the description of the problem, says it all.

I too, have had the problem, Tony. But, in addition, to the hard water,I discovered something that I didn't know. In our home's water system (our home is 30 years old) , someone prior to our ownership had installed a 6' section of galvanized pipe (possibly a repair). If you're not familiar with galvanized pipe and what hard water (High iron content) will do, it rust from the inside out. This 6" piece was almost totally clogged with rust and corrosion. This is also the effect it can have on a water heater. Especially, the sacrificial anode rod inside the heater (if it's an electric water heater) That's why it's so important to drain and flush your water heater, at least once a year.

I mention all of the above, because you very well, may be experiencing the same issue. The way to resolve it requires a little detective work on your part. Check you piping to see if any is galvanized pipe, rather than copper or PVC. Keep in mind, that the sink fixtures, may very well may be galvanized, if your home is 30 or more years old. If you find any, I highly recommend replacing it, before something goes wrong in the middle of the night or while you and your family are away from home. If you hard water is a result of using a well, place a whole house water filter on the main incoming water line. It does not have to be a charcoal filter. And to make your water more palatable, install an automatic water softener. For me, it was all money well spent.

Hope this helped you to troubleshoot and solve the problem. Please let me know. Thanks.

Bought a Rinnai Tankless water heater, propane hookup is 3/4 inch and our gas line where the water heater goes is 1/2 inch. also the regulator from the propane tank is for a lower flo gas flo, for our...

Sure is. You simply need to purchase a to 3/4" to 1/2" Male to female reducer. You didn't mention if your current gas piping is flexible copper, rigid black iron pipe or flexible stainless steel. In any event, get the one that matches your current gas piping. If all of your other gas appliances require an individual regulator, then you'll need one for the tankless water heater. If in doubt, contact your propane provider.

Hope this helped answer your question and provide a solution.

Hi i have a rinni convector 516tr heater i put it on it switches off a few seconds later i think it has to do with the timers i have lost the book/

I am assuming this is a tankless heater. Are you turning the water on full throttle and is there full flow. First thing to check is the small filter screen on the inlet of the water heater. If the flow is reduced the water heat will not fire.

My tefal quick cup now just flows cold water ?

Your unit more than likely has a thermal fuse built into the electrical circuit which is open. This is a built in safety to prevent overheating in the event someone failed to shut off the unit when they finished.

Flashing red light indicates not enough pressure on the input cold water. I had this problem when the small filter was gummed up with ****. Remove the water input nut and inside is a small removable mesh filter. Also the hydro power unit that you hear whirring has a even finer mesh filter. It can also be cleaned out.

New Tefal One Cup, and it has stopped heating the water, FAQ says it needs descaling, but it is only two weeks old ???

Sounds like Mfr defect. Do not recomend trying to repair since it is new and could void any warranty. Recomend returning to where you bought to get a new one.
