At the time of chatting close all the programs, check the web cam settings to show the camera is "ON" or check the user settings. It is the problem with setting itself check throughly.

I need some help i have a cam it was my daughters and she isnt around i dont have the disk and there isnt a name on it so how do i find a driver for it ?

For most web cameras, Windows (XP or Vista) will simply recognize the camera and let you use it in your chat program (Messenger, GoogleChat, Skype, Yahoo)

Try plugging it in to your computer and see if it works without a driver CD.

Sony Vaio Motion Eye

First find your VAIO Camera capture utility and configure it to see both your webcam and your microphone/ to do this if VAIO Camera Capture Utility is not in your start list of programs, Click on start in the space search "VAIO Camera" without the quotes. it should bring up the VAIO camera capture utility. Click on it/when it opens click on settings/ click on the Cam/mic tab and choose Sony Visual Communications Camera in the drop down under preferred Camera/ Do the same for your Preferred Microphone/ click OK/Now click the little red x in the far upper right of the VAIO Camera Capture utility to close it. Now in your chat software either Windows live chat or Yahoo chat or whichever one you have. I have Windows live chat/ configure your video in there as well to use your motion eye and your microphone. You should now be able to chat live seeing and hearing your guest as long as they have the same chat program.Do a search on google for "Windows Live Messenger" if you wish to use that utility to chat with. If you choose Windows Live Messenger, in the main window click on tools/ click on "Audio and Video Setup".

A window appears on my screen that indicates that I can't close.

Normal 0 Probably has corrupt driver.
Try disconnecting the Camera from the USB port and reinstall the CD software program. When the program asks you to connect the camera to the USB port, do so and it should work.
Hope this helps. Bud

Web cam wont turn on for video chat on AOL IM or skype

Look at the task tray where the clock is. Look for a icon that looks like a webcam. Is there one?
If there isnt one you will need to install the Drivers and software that came with your webcam.
If you cant find it, reply with the brand and model number

Webcam not connecting to yahoo messenger

!st, let me explain the problem more clearer, then I'll explain the solution.
Problem) My camera worked fine. Even when logging on to Yahoo messenger, i could still veiw myself when chatting. But when I clicked on the "broadcast" button, the "idle" status would change to "connecting" for a few seconds. Then the the following message would pop up, " The server is busy, Please close this window & try again in a few minutes".
Solution) In Yahoo messenger, click on "Messenger", scroll down & click on "preferences". In Category:, click on "connection". Make sure that "no proxies" is selected.

Web cams

You need to find a video chat program that you are comfortable with. Most of the major Instant Messenger programs have been adding video chat to their features over the last couple of years. Check this link for a good summary of current products and some excellent advice and reviews. http://video-chat-im-software-review.toptenreviews.com/ They favour windows live messenger - just be sure that whichever program you choose will support your camera, and will work on your PC. If you need help using the software, please ask again once you have decided which to use and we can try to help, but the majority of them are reasonably easy to set up and use. Hope this helps :)
