I took out my video card and hooked my montor up to the idk the slot that hooks up to monitor in the back of pc,lol. I also took out 1 of the memory sticks and cleaned with a tissue and just put 1 in slot 1.

Hello, Ive installed a new hard drive idk 5 mo. ago and the monitor did nothing and then the next day i started it up and it worked fine. Now i just installed a new hard drive and im getting the same problem over 2 days now. The monitor just has a black screen and the on off button is yellow. Im using the monitor now. Ive taken out the video card and hooked monitor to the slot on pc. I dont know the names of stuff or what theyre called, lol. But if you give me an idea ill figure it out im sure. I also cleaned my memory with a tissue and took out the 2 stickes and just put 1 in slot 1. Let me share you my idea with my experience, not with the technical issue and troubleshooting method. I've come across this same problem many a times and in most cases, it's the bad bios chip and video card which doesn't worth repair. What i mean is getting another new one is better than getting it repaired.

Try the following tips, remove and disconnect all the connectors, on the motherboard, like, Ram, Hard drive, DVD/Cd-Drive, Front Panel, Front Audio, USB, Fans, CPU, etc.. and clean all the motherboard, you can use a blower to blow out dust stuck on the board. Also clean the ram using an eraser (pencil rubber eraser), clean the motherboard components using a soft brush and make sure nothing is stuck on the connectors or between any chips or ics or transistors/Capacitors (those components standing out as small battery or chips). Now reinstall the Processor, Connect the power connector/s, install the Video card, one of the ram, and connect the mouse, keyboard, monitor, power cord and power on the system before you connect the front panels, Usb and Audio. If you can see anything, the turn it off and again plug in the audio and the usb connector, again reboot the system before you connect the front panel connect (power switch, reset switch, power led, hdd led), if it's successful proceed forward with the front panel connectors.
If the machine doesn't boots up even after cleaning and before plugging in or connecting those connectors (i've mentioned), power off and reinstall the Video card once again, you can also clean the interfaces on the card with a pencil eraser (pencil rubber eraser). Install it and try again. If the onboard video card (the vga part that is built on the motherboard) is still working, try connecting the monitor on it (if your monitor has the same VGA port or has an adapter/converter). I hope that'll work.

If it works, then the problem is with your graphics card or with the port where the graphics card is installed. Try the card on another system.

In the meantime, let me tell you one more thing, if your motherboard is old and you think it's worth to replace, you better opt for that, since old motherboard and malfunctioning mother can bring another or more damage to the other components like, hdd, dvd-drive, ram, video card, etc..
There's no problem in trying, in fact it'll increase your knowledge. I can only wish you good luck. If you still need further help from me, let me know.

Good luck.

Thanks for using FixYa.

Is the system new? What is the VGA you use, on board or exteral? In case of an external VGA take a look if it fits ok at the mobo.

Waiting clarification, don't hesitate to post.

Remove the hard drive and start up the system. It will not start up at windows desktop but it must begin loading bios and stop with the message that no drive detected. I want to check all the changes you made one by one. So post me back the results.

I installed a new hard drive, when I power up the tower, it beeps twice and the monitor says no signal. I reinstalled the old hard drive and the same thing happens.

Greetings,
If the monitor says no signal then you generally have a video issue not a hard drive issue. Make sure that the cable to the monitor is plugged in securely on both the monitor and the computer. If you have a video card make sure that it is seated correctly in the slot. You could also try a different VGA cable. Let me know if you have any more questions.
Good Luck,

Princeton Monitor is "out of range"

Hi,
The monitor is not getting a video signal. This is probably an issue with your computer. It could be a memory, hard drive or motherboard issue.

Make sure you are getting power to the pc (fans running, hard drive spinning...etc). Then check your memory. Try switching memory slots, or try different memory.

Turn on computer and see if you hear any bios beeps.

Try a different hard drive if you have one.

Good luck,
Hank

My Pc wont boot no signal in my monitor Help!

May be your in second HDD, you didn't set the jumper up. There are some more settings you will have to configure in the BIOS menu. in the BIOS, you should set the primary HDD as the master and the second(newer HDD) as the secondary. Then it should boot without any problem but if the problem persists I don't know what to do next.

Need to know If I can use this hard drive in this laptop?

More than likley its not inserted all the way. See if it shows on the boot menu in BIOS. To get to BIOS in TOSHIBA units I believe its F2 at startup.

sounds like a faulty hard drive mate, if you download this software http://www.seagate.com/www/en-us/support/downloads/seatools/ and run it, it will install hard drive test software onto a floppy disk for you to test the drive from boot,
