A red light indicating low or no black toner keeps blinking despite my putting in a new Kodak cartridge.

Shaking the toner didn't help. I'm actually on my second new cartridge and it was shaken to death before I purchased a new one.
When I click on "printer" to see what's happening, it tells me the job has been completed. I've unplugged the printer, shut down the computer, re-started it and then plugged the printer back in but that didn't help either.

It is a Kodak ESP-3. I have done everything you mentioned but possibly haven't had it disconnected for longer than 30 seconds. I am re-trying all of your methods now. Thank you and I'll let you know how it works!

I need a little more info about your problem, could you please tell me the model of your printer? I can't assume myself since you had mentioned only Kodak. Seems, it's a Laser printer when you say "no black toner..".

While you prepare your response, you can try cleaning the cartridges' head/chip, re-seating them, turn Off and turn On method, note that you should at least keep it Off for 5 minutes (minimum), and all the cables and cartridges must be disconnected/uninstalled. Also, remove the paper tray (if possible), open both the doors (front-back).

Awaiting your response.

Thanks, so it's not a Laser Printer, it an inkjet printer. Let's say cartridge not toner, it's confusing and the troubleshooting method is very different from inkjet to laser. Now follow the below instructions step by step.

Remove all the cartridges, clean the contact points on the cartridges and on the printer (the interface on the cartridge where it gets in contact with the printer and the corresponding point on the printer), using a soft brush or cotton or any kind of cleaning material, dipped in alcohol or acetone or spirit. (Please don't with my word "or", I have to mention them otherwise if you don't have the particular, you return to me and will take more time, so I just put those "OR"s as options). Clean them properly and gently. Please don't touch the print heads directly, you may damage them or you may push them inside (print heads are not repairable). Leave them to dry and in the meantime you can do some cleaning like carriage, passage, doors [front or rear]. I skipped one important step, disconnect all the cables, like power cord, usb cable, ethernet cable (if any). Turn off the adapter from the main switch.

After you think it's ready, plug in the power cord, and switch on the machine, once you press the power button, keep tapping the Power Button while the machine boots up and do the same with the Cancel button. You'll see the error message i.e. missing cartridges or install cartridges etc.. just ignore the message and leave it On for few minutes. After about 5 minutes, turn off the machine, install the cartridges (if possible without with the Power Off, if not do it later), reconnect the usb cable and once again power it on and press the buttons as I had mentioned above. If you haven't installed the cartridges do so now, but don't forget to press the "cancel" button as you install them. This clears the static memory.

Let me know if this doesn't help.

    I wish you good luck.

Once again, thanks for using FixYa.

RED LIGHT KEEP BLINKING ON MY ML-2510 PRINTER IT STILL WORKS , WHY?

Hi there,

A red blinking light on a samsung printer will often indicate that your toner level is low. It will still continue to work until the toner fully runs out. This is Samsung's warning saying that you should think about changing your cartridge soon. I hope this helps.

When the red light blinks on the printer what does it indicate-model-xerox phaser printer 6110

The blinking toner cartridge is low. Order a new toner cartridge. You can temporarily improve print quality by redistributing the toner. See "Redistributing Toner" on page 5.2

The top light of the two is flashing green/red back and forth very fast and the light on the bottom is a solid red. how do I fix this so that way it will work normally

The steady lower light indicates the unit needs a new toner cartridge, MLT-D108S. Did you previously see this light blinking or blinking rapidly? (Those indicate the toner being low.) Replace the cartridge and check for any other error lights. Turn off the machine and let it cool. Then open the front cover and pull the old toner cartridge. Open the package with the new cartridge, remove the packing tape and paper that protects the cartridge and gently shake it (avoid touching the blue or green parts of the OPC drum). Press the cartridge into the slot until it is fully seated. Close the front cover.

The green/red blinking power light is not one I'm seen before. The printer indicates a non-toner failure (open cover, no paper, LSU failure, etc.) with a steady red light.

Installed new cartridge and it says low on ink why? also what does the red light mean when it comes on and why?it will not go off.

I have the same problem. I replaced the black and both lights blinking now. Then the red light came on the power switch indicator and an error code 3802 and 3808 message that says "call support". No answer at their phones.
I think I need to change brands.

Samsung printer ML 2510 series

Maybe the toner is low... According to the manual, a blinking red light:

• A minor error is occurring and
the printer is waiting for the error
to be cleared. When the problem
is cleared, the printer resumes
printing.
• The toner cartridge is low. Order
a new toner cartridge. You can
temporarily improve print quality
by redistributing the toner. See
page 8.3.
• The toner is totally exhausted.
Remove the old toner cartridge
and install a new one. See page
8.4.
• The toner cartridge reached the
end of its life.

We re-filled the toner cartridge and re-installed it, but the red light indicating toner low keeps blinking, also the computor is telling us toner is low

Just refilling the cartridge may not resolve the low toner message. Many cartridges have a sensor chip that must be reset to clear the message. Due to this, many people opt to buy replacements or refurbished cartridges that have had the sensor chip reset.

Flashing Lights

From the User Guide:

Black, Cyan, Magenta, and Yellow Supplies Status lights
These lights indicate when a print cartridge is low (the light is on), or empty or missing (the
light blinks). The lights also indicate when a non-HP print cartridge is installed (the light
blinks and the Attention light is on).
