Question about SNK Magnavox 19MF338B/27 19 in. LCD TV
Don't buy anything from Magnavox or Phillips period. They won't take responsibility for their products and have no ideas what customer service means.

In some cases these TVs were to be returned for exchange. As costs were excessive. If this TV is out of warranty and you have no place to go with this TV, you might just have a hobbiest open the darn thing up. I would say you have a bad capacitor or two in the power supply. This is at its easiest repair. If not you may have a bad LCD panel and that is not worth replacing! Hope I could give a something to work with. Thanks for asking!

that set is highly rated by users .. it first came out in early 2009 (i think) so you might check to see if any warranty remains ... the display is illuminated by several lamps .. each lamp has its own high voltage inverter .. all the innverters are powered by an output of the low voltage power supply (often 18 volts)... i would suspect a problem with that low voltage power supply.. either a bad capacitor or a thermal issue .. .. ..

A capacitor needs replacing, I fixed one I found in someones trash that had the same problem, A 330 microfarad capacitor (uf) rated at 16v (the damamaged cap just had a bubble shaped foil top that indicated it went bad. replaced it with another cap (high voltage rated for tv replacement cap) cost 1.99 and it all works Great!
