Question about LG F1402FDS6 Front Load Washer
The AE error is indicative that there is a leak somewhere in the washer and it has triggered the flood protection device found at the bottom of the machine. What you should do is find out if there is indeed a leak. Try tilting it forward and find out if water will run out. If you can see water leaking from the water, locate the leak and fix it.

I had the fault code AE come up also on our lg washerbut the washer is fully built in and not an easy task to pull out from under the units so i decided to remove the panel off the front of the machine which houses the water pump filter housing, a little bit tight but if you remove the two screws behind the flap for the filter/ drain hose with a bit of fiddling the front lower panel can be removed and access can be gained to the lower cavity. DONT FORGET TO UNPLUG THE MACHINE BEFORE YOU GO ANY FURTHER!!!!. using a torch I could see a small amount of water in the very base of the machine which acts as a sump for any spillages/ leaks. What I did at this point was to use a syring with a length of rubber hose on it to drain the sump area of less than half a pint of water which was a bit stinky so i suspect that this had accumulated over a long time up untill the switch mounted in the center of the sump detected the presence of water and stopped the machine (quite clever really but VERY annoying). After draining the water as much as i could i plugged the machine back in and the machine started without any problem codes and completed a full wash cycle in which time I was laid on the kitchen floor looking for any leaks dripping into the sump. All was well untill the final rinse/ spin cycle at which time i saw a very slight leak coming from the vicinity of the hose coming from the bottom of the drum to the water pump (and a smaller pie leading up towards the top of the machine) After the washing had completed I unplugged the machine and felt around the hose only to find a cocktail stick protruding through the conveluted part of the hose both top and bottom. Then the fun starts!!! behind the front panel is an electrical control unit secured by two philips screws and some plastic securing tabs, remove the screws and slide the unit to one side, with a bit of fiddling the unit can be mauouvered out ot the machine allowing access to the hose clips and removal of the hose.
New hose costs £16 inc vat.from local stockist ( Empire spares phone 01613386161) whilst control panel is out fully clean and dry the sump area.refit is reversal of above but make sure your suitably competant to carry out these proceedures.
I am Not a washing machine engineer so proceed with caution. Hope this helps.

the AE code means that there is water in the base I found that the steam heater element in mine was leaking so after a quick repair using silicon and a good clean after drying the water out of the base it now works again
PS I used to be a washing machine repair engineer! I wouldn't suggest that you start opening up your washing machine!!!!

Have you tried cleaning your washer? I had a similar problem before and it is mostly caused by my brand of powder detergent. Detergent residues somehow confuses the functions of the system. I switched to an HE liquid detergent.
You can try cleaning your washer. Run an empty hot water cycle and add one cup of distilled white vinegar. It will help dissolve detergent residues as well as molds and mildew.
