That's the glow from the heater, this is normal.the dryer should be cleaned if it's electric i would clean it every two years, you need to clean out the duct that the lint filter slides into, vac out the inside of the dryer where the motor is and disconnect the vent line from the back of the dryer and clean out the vent line,if it's a long run to the outside i use a leaf blower to blow out the vent line, make sure the outside duct is clear also.if you do this you wont have to worry about a fire, your clothes will dry on time, you'll save electricity and your dryer wont run hotter than normal and your parts in the dryer will last longer.let me know how you make out

Kenmore 700 series dryer problems

This could be a few things. The first thing to check is your dryers vent, make sure its not clogged and check were it exits the house because sometimes nest are made in them. A clogged vent will prevent proper drying because the moisture can not escape and/or the heating element turns off due to overheating.
If the vent is clear, with dryer empty open the door and hold down the door switch (button that tells dryer door is closed) and turn on dryer, as its running watch the back area of drum were the vent with little holes is, within a few seconds you should start to see an orange glow in that area. If the orange glow starts then disappears within a few seconds it means your vent is clogged, if there is no orange glow at all then you have either a bad heating coil or bad high limit switches. I believe youtube has great how to videos on how to replace them, its not that hard if you have basic repair skills. Hope this helps you and your able to get it drying agian

Lg dlg7188rm - My dryer is not getting hot. When I start a cycle the ignitor comes on (orange glow under dryer) and then gas comes on (blue glow). After about 30 seconds both shut off.

There are two or three sensors in the heat exchanger and another one or two in the fan housing. Check them all for continuity. One in the heat exchanger is resettable

No heat checked all vents and gas lines. don't know whats next?

A gas dryer uses a electric igniter that glows orange to light the gas burner. If the igniter does not glow orange when the dryer is started..replace it.

I have a Neptune Gas Dryer that stopped heating....but still goes, is it worth fixing?

If it's only a few years old, it would be much cheaper to fix than to replace the unit. Chances are it only needs a new igniter and you'll be saving lots of hard earned dough fixing it. Easy things to check on your own include: Clean your filter. Clean out the vent behind the dryer. Clean out the vent outside at the vent cap. Turn on the dryer and see if the igniter glows orange. If it doesn't, it may just be broken and need replaced. Good luck.

Dryer won't heat up

When is the last time you cleaned out the dryer venting? May be a blockage that is causing the no heat problem. Check directly behind the dryer and also outside at the vent cap. If it's a gas dryer, it will not have a heating coil. The gas burner lights with an igniter. Does the igniter glow orange when dryer is first turned on? If not, it may be broken. Look for broken ceramic piece below where it attaches and replace. Do not touch the ceramic piece on the new igniter, as it is very fragile.

Amana les60aw gets hot in dryer but clothes wont dry. cleaned out vent, shortend exhaust hose. noticed an orange glow coming from back vents when i turned it back on???

The orange glow is the heating element working. It mush have good air flow or the coil will burn out and stop heating. Also the thermal limit will stop the heat if to great. If you went all through the vent and the tubing is not smashed or flat check the outside vent for air circulation, if good try to dry a load of clothes. Are you sure your washer is spinning out well? Wet clothes take longer to dry.

My Electric Dryer's Heating Element Glows orange while in use

Hi. this is quite normal when you dry heavy items. the dryer has sensors inside the compartment that will sense cotton and wool garment. if needed, the thermal regulator will adjust the element to the appropriate range. If there is a problem, the electronic thermal fuse will blow. this is the safety feature that will trigger itself if a fire or over heating is sensed. Also, if your selector knob is set to a cotton or high heat mode, the element will normally glow intensively during this cycle.

Please rate and god bless.
