Re: sansa e280 recovery mode
Try this: disconnect the player from the computer, hold in the volume + button, and reconnect the player to the computer while holding the volume + button in. Keep holding the volume + button for an additional 5-50 seconds. Windows should eventually go into recovery mode and revive the player- it will pop up a window that says Found New Hardware Wizard.

The error means that the program of your SanDisk is corrupted. Do you see an option to switch it to "recovery mode"? If not, the best thing that you could do is to send the device to the authorized service center for repair.
You need to put the device into "recovery mode" before you run the tool.
- Turn the device off (hold power for 20 seconds) - Slide the hold switch into "hold" position. - Press and hold the "record" button while connecting it to your computer. Keep holding the "record" button until you see the "new hardware found" on your computer.
Then run the recovery tool. Select format when prompted.
Recovery mode won't help you unless you have the recovery files to go with it.
Most likely you will need to re-install the firmware on to the device.
Download this "recovery tool" from the SanDisk website and run it with your device connected in recovery mode. Make sure you select "format" when prompted.
Tool is here; http://sandisk.com/assets/file/downloads/firmware/e200fw01.00.12.exe
Recovery mode - power off device. Slide "hold" switch into hold position. Press and hold "record" button and then connect to PC.(keep record button pressed until after connected to pc)
Hope this helps.
