If you just reinstalled Win Vista, you should have the activation key on the box in which the disk came. It may actually not be on the back, but on the top near the opening. Look for Microsoft's official seal, with the 3D logo on it.

If you absolutely cannot find it, try to start and activate Vista and when asked for the activation key, look for the option that gives you Microsoft's phone number - toll free - for activation.

Explain the loss of the key, but let them know you have some identification numbers from the CD/DVD sleeve. If they can authenticate your purchase, then they will help you activate by phone, usually for no charge, on a one-time only basis.

You might need to copy down whatever key they give you, or ask them to speak slowly so you can key in what they give you.

That is the best advice I can give you.

If you face Volume Activation error codes on Windows Vista-based computers..

Microsoft wants you to register your software with them, they will then give you the activation key. You should find your are given the option to do this. If you have reinstalled your vista then microsoft have locked it down to only one activation via the web. This means you will need to give Microsoft a call for them to give you a activation code.

You need to be more descriptive of your problem if you plan to get help on it.

Most people here will NOT risk their rating to help with an issue like this one. This is because you did not supply ANY specific information about your issue. Well we know is:

1.) Windows Vista Ultimate.
2.) Activation Code.

Ok... WHAT ABOUT THEM!? Are you having trouble finding your activation code? Are you having trouble entering it? Are you having trouble finding the screen to put it in? Are you having trouble trying to generate one? Are you having trouble....

Do you see what we mean? And then someone like ME comes along and sees this. I didn't want to post on this because all you're probably going to do is give me a "Thanks for Trying" rating because the solution I might give is going to be based on the assumption of ONE of the possible problems; it might not be the right one. Therefore it wouldn't help you.

At this point, I also have to assume one of two things...

1.) You have a genuine copy of Windows Vista Ultimate and are having troubles with your activation process.
2.) You have a PIRATED copy and you are trying to circumvent the activation process. WE DO NOT HELP WITH PIRATED SOFTWARE HERE.

If you want help, you need to be more specific.

Being as you may very well have a genuine copy of Vista Ultimate, I'll have to refer you to Microsoft for activation issues. If you're at least able to get to the screen where you put in the activation code, you should be able to find a support phone number by using the phone activation method.

But if you're here trying to circumvent the activation process in your copy of Vista, then you're going to have to go somewhere else for that. You'll not find help with that HERE.
