You will have to login to the router's web utility, go to wireless security settings, and choose either WEP, or WPA. After selecting one of the two you will need to select a passphrase which you will need the next time you connect. I suggest WPA personal, because it offers a stronger encryption method than wep, making it more secure.

SOURCE: How do I make my

there should be a wizard built into your operating system that will let you do that or if you have the little wireless icon on the bar with the start menu double click that and click on the option on the upper left part of the screen that says "setup a wireless network for a home or small office" you should have the option of securing it with a password.

Need to secure router via laptop

Hi Thanks for your question
I think my tutorial may help you with this please click this link----> http://www.fixya.com/support/r4695161-change_wireless_network_password_forgott

Because of the fact that you can connect to your network without cable since it's unsecured you don't need to connect by cable. Skip this part and carry on with going to the routers settings site then to router wireless settings and password change. Remember to choose WPA method of security. Good Luck and please let me know if this was any helpful.

Need to secure router via laptop

Your laptop must be a wireless computer. You want to secure the wireless network.
You will need to change the settings on the router.
First you will need to connect the computer to the router with the cable. Do you have any computer connected to the router ?
If not then connect the laptop to the router. Open the set up page of the router and change the wireless security settings of the network. Change the wireless network name also.

Laptop stopped connecting via wifi to home network.

The wireless settings in the Belkin has been setup with encryption.
You can restore the Belkin back to the factory default by powering up the Belkin and press the RESET button for 7 secs.
It is not wise to leave your wireless router unsecured, anyone can access your network and Internet connection and use up your allocated download limit. Once you exceed your download limit you could be slug with addition charges - this depends upon your contract with your ISP.

Blue Ray connection to Belkin G router

your wireless router is encrypted. To remove encryption, go in your computers web browser: http://192.168.0.1
That will take you to your LAN Administrator.
Follow the simple wireless setup for an unsecured connection or setup your blue ray connection and create your own passphrase or WEPKey.
Hope that helped!

New laptop using belkin n wireless router using McAfee security

An unsecure network just means that other people can "piggyback" on your wireless connection. It's not dangerous. In fact, I'm sitting in a place with my laptop right now, piggybacking on a signal.

The only possible downside is that if too many people ride on your signal for free, your connection could slow down. If you want help securing your router, I'll be glad to walk you through it.

Belkin Wireless G Plus MIMO (F5D9230-4)

hello!

normally, if you configure the wireless security settings wirelessly, it will automatically disconnect you from the network. you have to input the security key on the laptop first before it connects you back to the network.

i suggest, if you really like to configure the settings of your router, get an ethernet cable, connect it directly to the laptop so you can access and configure the router settings and to avoid from being disconnected

Connecting to secure network

when enabling wireless security the router and adapter must be both be configured and configured in a fashion that both support. If you need help provide confirmation of your wireless router's manufacturer and model and the same information for any wireless adapters or computers with built-in wireless adapters to be wirelessly connected.

This will allow us to determine the common security options for all wireless devices you have.
